okay, that's fine, but what does racism have to do with a nerdy/geeky thread? I didn't even read it, because it's freaking dumb and stupid. Ya know, can we just keep crap like that in N&P? Seriously.

Maybe because it's about a nerdy/geeky topic? There was a similar little tizzy when it was announced that Angelina Jolie was planning to play Cleopatra for a film. Some people thought the actress portraying Cleo should be "more ethnic" than Jolie.

I'm not going to talk about it anymore__________________

I volunteer only on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the science museum in the dinosaur exhibit while I'm home for the holidays. Well, it's an insect, spider, and parasite exhibit, right next to the dinosaur exhibit. I brought some bugs, parasites (mostly worms/nematodes) to talk about. My presentation went really well, except when I accidentally scared a little boy. We had a nice crowd and people asked a lot of questions, which I answered to the best of my knowledge. I had slides, and a cool PPT presentation. Last weekend, I was talking about beetle mites, which I'm going to talk more about this weekend. They're also known as oribatids. Today, they're usually found on plants, but the problem with them is they serve as intermediate hosts to tapeworms (which I talked a lot about and showed). That's what scared the little boy. I felt so bad. He got scared because someone asked me can humans get infected with them. I just told them that probably in third world countries, they can sometimes cause convulsions and death in humans, with heavy infections. I was just telling them that mite-borne tapeworms could have possibly affected herbivorous dinosaurs, but I wasn't sure if they experienced such severe reactions. I haven't seen it in many reptiles today, so it's possible that it could have been similar with dinosaurs.

Was really excited when I found out they would be filming Thor.. but since I've seen the trailers I've been quite disappointed .. Still want to see it! Some of my friends are in an independant fraternity called Thor so they are really stoked over this movie!

^^^I'm pretty excited about seeing it, too. I love the ending of Marvel movies, because it leads to other characters.

Yep. And I love how they showed clues to the beginning of the Avengers. I'm not really a huge fan of DC characters, though.

Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Latern...thats the DC world to me.

Actually I know of a few more because of a few cartoons. Batman by far has the greatest comic book villain every with the Joker though. Hell most of Batman's villains are bad ass.

Batman wins. It's a rule of comics. Give Batman time to prepare for any fight and he'll beat anyone.

I do think his villains are the best too.

I can't really think of any DC character that I like. They're all lame, to me, especially Batman. That whole Batman/Boy Wonder thing is more like a joke, to me. I haven't seen any Batman villains that I like, either. They're kind of dumb, to me. They make me laugh. Wonder Woman is also a joke. She flies around in an invisible plane, but yet you can still see her flying it. And Superman is weak for Lois Lane. And their costumes are horrible compared to Marvel. I guess it's just a matter of what entertains us or what we find to be cool. Marvel characters do it for me. They're the best. I honestly think the Hulk would kick butt and take names with any character, Marvel and DC.

eta: with the exception of Jean Gray, and Professor X.

I like Spider Woman. She's my "shero". Oh, and I like She Hulk, too.
