Greek, Last Night
Okay...I'll be honest...when watching it last night I thought 1 of 2 things was going to happen...
First, he (the RA) was going to tell a story about how his girlfriend died (I was so dead on)...or Second, he (the RA) was going to be seen out at the Gay Club that Ashleigh went to and it was going to explain his social awkwardness....
As far as Rusty's storyline...I first thought it was Kappy, too. Then I thought that maybe they were going to say he (Whopper) died of alcohol poisoning (or some other way) and that's why they don't bring him up...Then my imagination got to me and I wondered if either the RA (because I'm not so sure what year he is-undergraduate or graduate student) was "Whopper" or possibly that the Dean who hates them was "Whopper" from back in the day...
Very interesting show last night but, the previews for next week irritated me as they did not give us much to get excited about...what is it even about???

I still think Joshua Whopper is Cappy. From the description Dale read, it makes sense.
And I totally knew the RA's gf was dead.
I don't like the fact that they made this whole episode really "heavy" w/ the whole dead gf and stuff.

Me too! I'm a total believer in sometimes it's the sweet, nerdy guys that are totally right for the girl. I mean who wants to date a slacker or a jerk?
I love the planetarium moment.
Missed the first 20 minutes, but what was that whole Whopper thing? I didn't get it whatsoever. Someone explain please.

So the whole phallus references thing was hilarious. It's hard, we'll just need to reach around, etc etc. I giggled.

I think I remember Cappy saying that he and Evan went to summer camp together, but the only reason he went to that summer camp was because his parents work there.
However, I missed last week's episode. There's always some sort of mystery surrounding Cappy.

Yeah, his parents were hippies and that somehow plays into his real name.

Well he said that his name was "ironic" because his parents were hippy types.
His name could be Joshua, even w/ hippy parents, because it is not a very "hippy" name, thus it being ironic.

Maybe they named him with the Hellenized version of Yehoshu'a -- Jesus.

The whole "Joshua Whopper" name is a reference to the movie "War Games", where the computer WOPR (War Operations something something) is nicknamed "Joshua" by its creator. In the flashback they showed the Bill Gates lookalike sitting down at the computer to create the student file and the computer said, "Would you like to play a game?" exactly the way it did in the movie. I have fond memories of this movie because my husband proposed after we watched it.
Half the fun of watching Greek is trying to catch the references.

Hahahaha...MysticCat, I love you! That was too funny and you are probably right! We will get to the bottom of this. I forgot his parents were hippies. That would be pretty funny if he was Joshua Whopper.

Kinda like Gilmore Girls, but less girly? I guess I never realized that there were cultural references in there (but I'm usually doing 10 other things while watching).

ok, is it sad I care more about Cartwright vs. Morgan than Obama vs. McCain? Don't judge me!

Rebecca, when she came to talk to Casey after she lost the election, said something along the lines of, "politicians are supposed to inspire you, not just be better than the alternative"
genius. pure genius.
And THAT is why I care about Greek more so than the election.
(ok, not really.. but seriously, how much sense does that quote make!)
