I agree. It's really not too late for her. She has had some surgery but she still looks human and can be saved from the B.S. but she HAS to act fast.

Kelly Sues....

R. Kelly Sues Jay-Z After Tour Cut Short
(AP, 11/01/2004 10:19 PM)

By Mitch Stacy

Singer R. Kelly sued rapper Jay-Z on Monday for $75 million, alleging Jay-Z's "spite and jealousy" prompted him to use violence to force Kelly off their national tour.

The breach of contract suit suggests Jay-Z was perturbed because Kelly was the higher-paid performer. The animosity led to deliberate lighting flubs and other technical problems, violence against Kelly, and threats to force the promoter to drop him, court papers say. The promoter is also named as a defendant.

Kelly, whose best-known hit is "I Believe I Can Fly," accused one of Jay-Z's associates of blasting him with pepper spray early Saturday at Madison Square Garden. He was treated at a hospital and released.

A short time later, the tour's promoter, Atlanta Worldwide Touring, fired Kelly. He and Jay-Z were in the middle of a 40-city tour that had been plagued by canceled shows and reports the two refused to speak to each other.

The tour was supposed to be "the perfect marriage of hip-hop and R&B," said Kelly's lawyer, Edward Hayes. "Instead, it's going to be a terrible divorce."

Atlanta Worldwide said Sunday that the tour has been canceled. Jay-Z's publicist said he was unsure whether the rapper would try to fill the remaining dates as a solo act.

A statement from Island Def Jam Records, which Jay-Z is slated to take over, blamed Kelly's "lack of professionalism and unpredictable behavior" for cancellation of the tour.

Kelly's court papers suggested that the tension between the two musicians was the result of Kelly's larger profit split: 60 percent of the first $15 million earned to Jay-Z's 40 percent.

Kelly's lawsuit says Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, and his associates turned the tour into a "nightmare" by engaging "in a pattern of wrongful conduct" to get the promoter to exclude Kelly.

Kelly's lawsuit asks for $15 million in compensatory damages and $60 million in punitive damages.

On Friday night, court papers say, Kelly was performing when he noticed two men in the audience open their coats and display dark objects that he thought could have been guns.

Kelly twice left the stage, once telling the audience that he was being "menaced." After police arrived and found nothing, Kelly returned to the stage, after which a Jay-Z associate pepper-sprayed Kelly and several members of his entourage, the suit says.

So, this will get uglier

LMAO@ Double Wood!

Orrrrrrrrrrrr, is Atlantic letting HER go b/c she isn't bringing in ANY money?

I bought this last mess on the skreet and I'm still that I did. The first single was the BEST, IMO.

It's a shame with all the "heavy hitter" producers and cameos, she still COULD NOT do the DAYUM thing.

Here's a tip: Sit down...raise your child and HAVE A NICE LIFE!

Yeah I am sure her success has plummetted. In my opinion, her BEST CD was CD #1. I still bump that bad boy.

You ain't neva lied...lol...I was listening to Brokenhearted and Always on my Mind just this weekend.

I think this last album had like 2 good cuts on it. I was kinda disappointed that she tried to shout out Aaliyah in her last song just because she was working with Timbo...did you know Aaliyah like that? I mean, come on...

dang her CD didn't even go Gold. That's sad. I didn't think it was that bad but then again she's never had a stellar voice to me. I think she's trying to hard to catch up with Beyonce, Ashanti, etc. It's kinda hard when you have a kid.

re: Aaliyah. Yeah I didn't know her and Aaliyah were "best friends".

I don't think there is ANYTHING Brandy could do to catch up to Beyonce. The 2 aren't even on the same level to me. Brandy has a decent voice and subpar looks. Beyonce has a soulful voice and is pretty by most people's standards. To me, Brandy's voice is a step above Chirstina Millian. She just had a tv show and that sweet and innocent act to lure people in. But now that she's a baby mama and had a "spiritual bond," she's got nothing to go on. Too little, too late...

Aaliyah may have been HER best friend, but from my understand, Aaliyah's best friend was Kidada Jones (Quincy's daughter).

Brandy needs to just let it go and live off the royalties from Moesha. I told y'all before--If she hooks back up with Miles (Marcus Polk) and rekindle the mystery surrounding his "kidnapping" on Moesha, she would be PAID! I know I would watch! :P Miles, Hakeem, Niecy, Frank, nor Dee has been hot since Moesha was cancelled. They would be glad to work.

I have it all figured out. That pregnancy test that was found could have been Moesha's. Little Sy'rai can play the baby that Mo had out of wedlock. The show can feature the perils of Mo being a stuck-up single parent. Then, they can throw a plot twist in and have a paternity issue between Q and Hakeem. It could work...

(Ok, I admit it! Since I voted a few weeks ago, I have a lot of time on my hands this Election Day! )

November 2, 2004 --

DOES any singer take the "live" in "Saturday Night Live" seriously? Just one week after Ashlee Simpson lip-synched on the show, Eminem was found guilty of the same crime. "He was singing 'Mosh' and you could tell he was lip-synching," said our source. "The track was just a bit ahead of his lips and he put the mike down at one point but the track kept going." Eminem's rep said he was merely trying to "duplicate the sound on his album. He had a vocal track on for double vocal effect [on the first song], to make it more powerful. Lots of hip-hop artists do that. Tupac [Shakur] did it."

Fade to Black

Synopsis: A documentary take on rapper Jay-Z, one of the most successful and popular performers on current pop radio. Filmed during the recording of his "Black Album," the documentary also features other radio heavy-hitters, such as Mary J. Blige, a.k.a the Queen of Hip Hop/R&B. (Also look for girlfriend Beyonce Knowles, the frontwoman for Destiny's Child.)

Oh well then! I guess this makes it right.

I don't care if people lip-sync during performances. Hey, they have been doing it for over a decade on Soul Train. I know that I was PO'd when they switched from live music. Anyway, what can we do? As long as I know they have what it takes, I'm cool. There have been times I have heard people perform when I wished they would have been lip-syncing. Though I love Mary, she is notorious for sounding a dirty mess at times, but I know that she has what it takes. Ashanti on the other hand.... I'll leave it alone.
