I beg to differ

Will be a hell of a game though. So many of my friends are going to Miami for the game.

Local sports media types are predicting it'll be 80/20 OU as far as attendance goes -- I've heard USC doesn't travel very well, is that true?

Hey, at least some good teams will play in the OB at some point this year!

USC travels VERY well, I don't know why there is the perception that we don't. The travel office at the university is arranging packages of chartered planes full of nothing but USC students and alums. I know a ton of people who are going to Miami for it. I bet will be pretty even 50/50 or 60/40 OU v SC fans.

When Iowa and USC played in the Orange Bowl, I'd guess that it was nearly 70% black with all that gold (seriously, teams that share a color playing in the same bowl game is a fantastic mess, even if it's secondary).

Now, some of that was blamed on the 'hangover' from not being in the title game, and some on Iowa traveling very well (i mean, cold-weather state and all), but honestly USC had to sell part of its ticket allowance to UI fans.

Maybe that's where it comes from? Either way - that will definitely be a great game, two storied football schools going at it . . . and sorry Auburn, but I'm pretty sure this is the 'correct' game, too.

I think for Nat'l Championship game tho, our fans will be out in force. Part of the travel issue is that a lot of people out here take trips to tropical non-US locations at that time of year. Myself included, I just don't leave until AFTER the game.

USC can't even fill up it's own stadium....

The sublime, calm crowd of a MAYBE 90% filled L.A Collosium pales in comparison to the loud and rowdy 100,000+ crowd at Ohio State or the Big House.

Don't give me that there's no where to park either...if you we're that dedicated that place would be full.....

Whatever, I hope OU destroys the spoiled children.....the sting won't be that hard for them because they have daddy's trust fund to cry into

The best line said to me by a USC fan in Miami: "I was stunned; I've never seen a student section act like that. The kids were drunk, they stood up the entire game, and they were so loud, it was appalling." I was all,

?

I don't know where in the hell you guys get your info, but I could not even GET tickets to any games this year because they were sold out. We set attendence records at EVERY game this year. Our crowds were in the 88,000-91,000 range at our home games this year.

But I agree that Ohio State, Penn State, etc's bigger rowdier crowds are bigger consistently. But there's not as much to DO in Ohio or PA either as there is in So Cal, I guess. lol Am sort of kidding, I think it would be cool to see a game in one of those stadium.

Meaning the end zone of the coliseum? Yes, and I have no idea why. Has been this way as far back as I can remember. Maybe there are no seats under the banners there. lol

I do remember seeing on some telecasts that the upper, upper nosebleed seats weren't being used. I understand that you may not want to sit up there, but they do in the Big House....

Either way, this is going to be a great Orange Bowl...

USC travels pretty well, but obviuosly not as well as the other towns ie Iowa or Oklahoma or WIsconsin or Hicktown USA or ThereIsNothingToDoinmyCity town.

not to dog on other towns even though it seems as if I am, but its hard incentive for people from LA to travel to other towns. its great, when I see people from the Midwest come into town for the Rose Bowl. they act as LA or Pasadena is the greatest. Great whether, nice scenery blah blah blah...all until some cholo mugs them.

A few years ago I was at a New Years eve party and some Oklahoma fans were rockin their Oklahoma gear. Thats cool. But I felt sorry for them when everyone made fun of them for traveling so far "just for a football game" (lord knows if i could afford it, I totally would travel "just for a football game"), wearing Oklahoma gear every minute of the day.

What was even funnier was when those Oklahoma fans hit on some hot chicks, and the hot chicks totally blew them off saying " ok wait a minute, you guys drove all the way out here for a freakin football game? what is a sooner anyways? you guys have schools in Oklahoma? aren't you all like in trailers or whatever? ummmm ok...bye"

=(

What sucks is that they took off their gear immediately, and you could still tell they werent from california. man, people from around here can be so brutal.

This mentality is well-noted in college football - why do you think Florida teams always have bowl bids nearby? They don't travel well, and this is given as the reason.

Just look at where warm-weather schools wind up in games that have an option (ie not the big-4 BCS bowls), then you let me know how well they travel.

So yeah, we can talk about how great the fans for USC or UCLA or Miami or FSU or etc can be - but attendance figures historically don't back it up for the warm-weather coastal schools, simply b/c of the lower draw as a 'vacation' for bowl travel.

Been to all of them. Because of the "decks" at Ohio Stadium, the crowd seems much closer and the noise that much more intense, especially now that they've closed the open end of the "oval."

All of them a great places to watch, but I think the above gives Ohio a little advantage.

I've never had a problem finding anything to do on a football weekend anywhere.
