I know this was mentioned on another thread, but the young lady who wore the Confederate flag-styled prom dress was just on the Larry Elder Show with her lawyer. Larry said she might win her case based on the violation of the first amendment. But, Larry tried to express to her that not everyone views the Confederate flag the same way, some see it as a symbol of repression, the young lady sees it as a symbol of her heritage. The young lady countered by saying that even Blacks fought along with Confederate soldiers in the Civil War.
Just a little background. A young White student in Tennessee designed her prom dress to look like the Confederate flag. She attends a predominately White hs (~90 % White). She felt that the dress was a way to show pride in her heritage.

Re: FLASHBACK to your PROM
Did you go to your prom?
yes went to Jr and Sr
What did you wear? Colors?
Sr. Wore Emerald Green and White
(peach was the color that year ew..)
Were you prom king/queen?
No went to all girls school didn't have that.
Did you go with someone special or friend?
Ex-BF for Jr (major major love jones for him)
Boyfriend at time for Sr. (he was in the army and drove from LA to go with me to my prom (awww)
What was your prom theme?
Maybe Make it Last Forever? I forgot...
How much did your prom cost?
Our prom tix alone were $100 but we were trying to do something different and had it at the Bellevue. Trust that was a lot of $$ for 1989! May have spent $500 all together i think.
*To McCoy Red
the Hotel is now the Park Hyatt @ the Bellevue. We had a blast in there and it was nice

We are in the Last Days, it seems.
This stuff is rid-durn-diculous. I agree with Eclipse -- that money could be used for those babypeople's college funds. But it seems that their purruntz aren't acting like purruntz.

Please tell me that's an elementary school graduation and these kids are just a little spoiled. (Actually, the dresses are precious - and that plaid suit is cute as well.)

Steeltrap, I said this was a sign of it being the last days as well.
I found out from another listserve that this is a daycare center in Baltimore.
These same kids grow up with no books in the house and the only reason the computer is there is to download music and movies.

I'm still SMH. And I feel you about the priorities. I grew up prior to computers, but there were tons of books, including the encyclopedia, in my home. And I had my library card, too.

Besides all the other's posts of the ridiculousness of it all
I am laughing that anyone who has spent time in B-more instantly recognized where they were from the houses in the background...no one needed to tell us where they were located..
that is too funny..

I was shocked when I saw the MD license plate. Having the location clarified, it all makes sense now and I'm not surprised.

I did not even look at the license plates. Plus I have never been to Baltimore.

The city of Baltimore is interesting to say the least. You should visit just for the experience. Outside of the city gets better reviews from me.
