A lot of girls don't want my house (Sigma Delta Tau) because the letters look like the word "EAT". Okay, sort of, except it's not an epsilon, it's a sigma, and what they stand for is very beautiful and special.

Other bad reasons I hear (not that we all don't consider these at some point):

- I just want to party with cute guys/drink/go to mixers
- I love their mascot/crest/colors. It's so me!
- My friends want Tri Delt so I should be a Tri Delt.
- The girl I talked to wasn't pretty/as pretty as me
- They look like losers/sluts/etc.

When I went through rush I wanted to cut one house immediately because they wouldn't stop touching my knees. I HATE when people I don't know that well touch me, and this girl was freakin stroking my knees! I don't know if I cut them or they cut me...either way I think it worked out.

Of course, before I got to school I decided I ONLY wanted Alpha Phi or Gamma Phi Beta because they're Alpha chapters at my campus. Of course, once I got to campus I realized how different both those chapters were. Still, I had to be in an Alpha chapter....until I went through rush and realized how no one else judged chapters that way. Funny how things ended up.

Mostly at my school, which is a small, private, Christian instution, we mostly get dumb resons for not accepting a bid if it's not from your first choice club and about the size of the club.

Example: "God told me that if I didn't get my first choice, I shouldn't pledge."

Kind of absurd and really annoying because it is the most overused excuse in the book at my school.

I know faith and religion are very personal and private things, but I laughed, HARD. Do groups who do not accept people say "God didn't want us to pledge you!" because that would also be awesome.

I'm going to bring Magic Cheezburger legislation to my sisters

Sorry the Magic Cheezeburger said "Sry I eated it" and that's why we didn't offer your pwecious snowflake angel a bid. We tried again and got "Srsly" and "WTF?" so we were unable to put her as a first or second choice. All of the women we extended bids to came up "U Can Has" or "OMG! YES!!1!" and that is why they were on our first bid list. Please direct your concerns to Ceiling Cat & Basement Cat. Oh, have you seen the LOLruse's bucket?

A friend cut one group right away because she just couldn't deal with the skull on their badge. "It's so creepy! Why would they DO that?"

Won't you ever learn not to talk about membership selection rituals in public?

Hmmm I think we'd need to eat cheezburgers and only do MS on Caturday. I hope there is the option of DO NOT WANT.

I think I want one of those LOLCAT Magic Cheezburgers for when I TA or am at work and someone asks a question that deserves an answer in LOL Speak.

Hmm, I wonder who that could be

To be honest, when I first got/saw our badge I was a little concerned it lacked some grace and femininity - but then once I learned about its meaning it became much more bad ass & of course now, I LOVE IT! (It also has caused me to squeal every time I see something skull & crossbones and yell, "sigma!!")

Pretty sure at least one other NPC has a skull on their badge -- they were my next door neighbors when I was a collegian.

On topic, I was dead set on not going Tri Sigma when I first got to school... my cousin is a Tri Delta alumna and I thought it was just too close! But Sigma was just TOO natural and I didn't "feel" it anywhere else... so here I am, rockin' my skull and pearls whenever I can!

These are usually the girl's who didn't get into their first club choice, more specifically their big club choice. And I laughed, too. It's really pathetic the excuses girls will make just to not feel bad about rejecting a bid from the small clubs...

And on the second thing, our school has caps on pledge classes (51 for girls' clubs), so their excuse is just that they couldn't take every girl. But yes, I'm sure that has been tossed around before.

Oh really? My apologies! We didn't have any other NPC's on our campus so I'm still trying to learn about badges and how they look - which is why I like the Badge Trends thread!

Off to look at some pretty badges!

Chi Omega has a "skull" on their badge. Looking straight at the Omega the "skull and bones" are on the left and the "owl" is on the right. Obviously, they have chosen to empasize the "owl" as their symbol!

As always,

It must be strange to be the only NPC at your campus! Unless there are other locals or non-NPCs that help bridge the gap. We only had 3 at my school (with no locals or others), which is also a pretty small system.

Here's a great PDF of the NPC badges: Link. It's a great starting point... although in this pic it is hard to tell what the images are on the Chi O badge unless you know what you're looking for.

I cut an organization because it didn't have a house. Now I know that a physical house doesn't make a sorority better then others, but at the time, I didn't know better and cut a great organization.

I almost cut an organization because they also invited my roommate to preference, but luckily I still listed them first on my preference card and had 4 great years of sisterhood (that didn't include my roommate).
