I didn't think that he was brushing her off. I think that he couldn't actually hear her/them because the kids AND Michelle said things to him and he just kept on talking. He seemed to hear them towards the end of being patched in via satellite.

Anyway, I was impressed with her speech. I think that she is a dynamic and eloquent speaker. I heart her!

I agree, and Ithink Sasha asking him where he was in response to first he said Kansas City and then he said St. Louis. He was able to set the record straight.

I liked Michelle's speech. I am glad I saw the video, because now I see she really is a remarkable woman on her own.

"Look how cute the kids are...ohhhhhh...he'll be a persistent President because he jokingly says he kept asking Michelle out eventhough she kept saying 'no'...she changed her mind and that's change we can believe in."

I bet if lil Sasha had said "Daddy, mommy say you betta get to Denver or we going shopping again" dude would not have brushed her off.

Nominating conventions are crafted for the broad, unengaged middle. People, who to this point, have not focused on the detail of either campaign. For many it's the first introduction to Obama and his family. For those who are engaged, it probably will appear, at times,.....boring.

Personally, I didn't think Michelle's speech was all that either, but it was effective, I think, in debunking the initial image her husband's opponents have tried to create for her.

One of my colleagues has worked for years (although not this year) as a lead guy at RNC stage committee (making sure everything/everyone you see at the podium happens as they want it to happen.) Trust me, this is stagecraft writ large for both parties.

That's the exact same feeling I had.

And my feeling is that they should not stoop to defend themselves against baseless and unfounded allegations. That to do so gives those allegations a weight and significance that they do not possess.

Of course, that is probably why I would not make a good politican.

I did not like her dress; I thought it fit funny. My grandmother liked it though. Other than the dress, she was lovely.

i was chatting with a friend about michelle's speech. i agree with your comments. it was definitely designed to quiet the naysayers and perhaps bring the staunch hillary folks and/or the folks who are considering mccain since hillary didnt get the nom.

on a side note, i love your signature

that is the one thing about politics i dont like. but that is the game that must be played. i liked her dress. she looked more working mom and less stepford wife.

what i didnt like was michael eric dyson commenting on her backside. highly inappropriate and unnecessary.

That was John Kerry's thoughts on the Swiftboat Vets. You see where that got him! Unfortunately in today's society if you say something loud enough and long enough people start to believe it.

To add: They call them the "pundits"... Find everything and anything to debunk or build up a mythology about the opponent. A media slaughter--a marketing tool for product/ad placement.

Michelle O. will be an icon in the future. Her image, likeness, persona, branding, etc. will be marketed to mass groups the world over. Who does it and how it gets done, who knows? Oprah and Poprah had something to say about... LOL..

Thank you! I thought I was the only one who didn't like the dress. What was up with the ornamentation in the middle??

I too thought her speech was just average....

You right. But I would hope that the majority of people know that these conventions for any party is basically a big pep rally.

Go team go!
