Based on another post in another thread, the OP did mention that she's at UIUC, so she must be talking about Alpha Xi Delta.

There was no stalking involved, dear.
If you do a view all posts, your first post was about Alpha Xi's recolonizing of their Kappa Chapter. You mentioned in another thread that you attend UIUC.

I know as a guy, we've also got long memories. If my chapter was deactivated, although I would probably still retain alumnus status, I'd be royally angry about what the actives did, and I'd do everything I could to ensure that they were the ones punished, not new pledges. I've got a good memory when it comes to things like that.
That said, if you recolonize, expect a lot of alumni support, but also some intervention, because they will want to be sure you don't mess up again. Some chapters get their charters yanked over simple keg parties or a DUI. Be aware that some alumnus members may be super-protective of the new group.

I know you said you rushed as a sophomore last year. Have you considered or will you be participating in Formal Rush again this year as a Junior or will you only be considering Alpha Xi Delta?

Right now I don't think I'll do formal. Although I've heard juniors don't count toward quotas, I feel like it would be hard to get a bid as a junior especially when the houses have plenty of freshmen to pick from.

Keep in mind that just because a chapter is recolonizing, it doesn't mean they're going to take everyone who's interested. There is an interview process, which I'd hazard a guess is even more difficult than a normal recruitment, because you're being questioned by a group of alumnae, many of whom will be regional/national officers.
I'd also hazard a guess that being a colonizing member is quite a bit of work. Rewarding and fun, but still work. If your main intention is just having social opportunities, it might not be the best avenue.
The colony will most likely want a cross-section of students, so being a junior shouldn't work against you there.

I understand that I won't get in just because they're recolonizing but I'd personally rather get rejected by one sorority because I wasn't a good fit, than cut from a dozen because I'm a junior.
I'm not looking for just the social aspect (I can go out to the bars or throw a party with friends I have now.) I'm looking for friendships and an opportunity to get involved in philanthropy projects.
I'm up for the challenge of being a recolonizing member and interviews with alumni don't scare me. It could be worse than formal recruitment but with the way recruitment is at UIUC, I doubt it.

Just keeping things realistic, that's all. It sounds like you have great reasons to want to be a recolonizing member. Others this may not.

I say go for it. Alpha Xi Delta is a wonderful organization that is going to be an amazing addition to the UIUC NPC roster! I would encourage you to throw your name in the hat. A colony needs young members who will be there to grow with the chapter for the next 4 years, but it will also need some mature, quality leaders who are past the whole freshman thing and who have experience on campus, proven academics on campus, etc. Good luck!
