In Texas we have Beer Barns. Its just a huge barn that you drive into, you tell them what you want & they'll bring it to your car. We also have liquor stores that have a drive-thru lane (like a fast food place would have).

I've never heard of that. So jealous!
I scored 63% Dixie. Born and raised in Maryland, 4 years of school in WV, 1 year and going living in North Carolina.

Come to North Carolina.
(Technically, though, it's not a liquor store, since liquor can only be bought at ABC stores. Brew-Thrus have beer and wine.)

I'm sure I've taken this quiz before, but whatever.
I got 73% (Dixie)
That hurts. I consider myself to have been raised in the North. I tell everyone that my home town is Minot, North Dakota. Oh, well. Lots of people tell me I have a very neutral accent.

That's nuts. I'm 60% Dixie. I grew up in California, but learned most of that terminology from my mom who was raised in the South.

39% (Yankee). A definitive Yankee. It was nice to see the word Grinder for sandwich on the list!

This made me laugh because I was only 58% Dixie.
Maybe we've been rubbing off on you in the blah, blah, blah, SEC threads.

Praytell Benzgirl, what is an "Eastern" accent? The New England, NY/NJ, Philly, Pittsburgh, Southeastern, and godawful Baltimore are pretty distinct from each other, so I'm curious as to what constitutes an Eastern accent. I was told by BetteDavisEyes last week while we were at Convention together that I have an Eastern accent, but I can't really figure out what that means (and she couldn't explain).
40% Yankee for me. Makes sense, since Maryland is a border state but slightly more Northern.

Don't Easterners talk generally a lot faster than Westerners? I had a friend move out to Cali and we were actually making fun of her because she slowed down-she's just a very bubbly person and it was very noticeable. She said she had to because nobody understood what she was saying.

I should have been more direct, but didn't want to place a direct stereotype on him. It sounded like he was from Jersey.
Believe me, I can recognize many of those you have mentioned. I lived in Baltimore for a short time and spent a lot of time in NY and the Boston area. I work with loads of people from Pitt and attended school with many from Maine and Connecticut. The are all different
