Yeah, I guess it was interpreted as a (racial) slur in the general sense of what a slur is.
The term "racial slur" is more specific and holds a certain connotation. So calling what he said a "racial slur" adds a biased and unfounded meaning to Imus' comments.
I've got an idea. Now this idea may go back to being raised to mind my own business so a lot of you might not agree with me here.
If you don't like Imus then don't listen to his show, plain and simple. Controversy= money for radio DJs.
I think the nickname was given by his family because of his appetite as a child.
Don't quote me on that, though.

Taken IN CONTEXT, I see what he probably meant and how easy it is to misunderstand what he meant.
It seems like he was saying that Pacman was being targeted because he's African American, even if his first arrest was his fault.
I think that's bullcrap, btw. Pacman was instrumental in his own downfall. There are more deserving blacks and Hispanics to use as the posterpeople for unfair treatment.
