Does anyone have certain places they simply WILL NOT drive in? I actually have entire states like that. We used to live in Maine but would come down to Maryland some weekends for college football games. I was very specific about where I would do the driving. "Yes" States - Maryland, Delaware, New Hampshire, Maine "No" States - New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts

I was going to NY with my gf and her family. There was a bad accident on I70 in Richmond, IN and we were stuck in traffic for a couple of hours, only moving a few yards every couple of minutes. There was a guy behind us honking his horn THE ENTIRE F***ING TIME!!! like we, or anyone else within 200 cars ahead of us could do anything about it, let alone the people that were actually within a half mile of the crash. I just wanted to go up to the guys car, jerk him through his window and pummel him to a bloody pulp on the ground. I'm not a violent person normally, but this just takes the cake!
Also, I've been noticing this a lot more often lately everywhere I go, but I first noticed it in Terre Haute, IN. Everyone runs red lights, if they're within a quarter mile when the light turns yellow, they go through it anyway. My truck has terrible brakes, and I've come to stops at lights with no problems, and people the next lane over 2-3 car lengths back will run the red light. Semi's always run them too, especially when turning left, across the intersection in front of me, with 2-3 cars behind them making the left turn also. This usually causes me to have to sit through the green, waiting for them to turn, and then through another red before I can actually go.
Old people wait for me to come by so they can pull out in front of me, specifically.
The stoplight at the bridge construction site on the way to work sees ME coming and turns red, even though there is no traffic coming from the other direction.
By the way, one time my dad was driving along, and a guy about 3 cars behind him passed him all the cars up to him and cut my dad off because there was a car coming. My dad, being the nice guy he is, told the guy he was number one. The guy looks in his mirror at my dad and holds up a gun and waves it at my dad. What does my dad do then? He takes his gun, which he usually carries on his commute to work, holds it in the air, and lays it on the dash. The guy calmly puts his gun down, and continues driving, getting away from my dad as fast as possible. Now, my dad isn't an ultra violent gun freak, but he enjoys them, and has a permit to carry one. He just figured if the guy wanted to play hardball, he would. also, he knew he had the advantage, if it came to a highway shootout, he wouldn't have to look behind him to shoot

Now that's a story of road rage...jezz I think we're becoming dangerously more violent everyday on the roads.

Yeah, my dad carries a gun for the same reason most do, for protection, in case he needs it. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure this is the only time he's ever "threatened" anyone with it, even though he's carried one for probably 10 years or better. He's had a gun pulled on him on one other occasion that i know of. he was leaving a bar and some lady hit his car. He said, "we need to exchange insurance info." and she pulled out a gun, and said "no we don't". One time he was out target shooting at a friends, and some cops pulled up because of a complaint. He talked to them for a while, because he knew them. This was before they switched from revolvers to mag. fed handguns, and he had to show them how it worked

Here is how it is here in Ky. Now what I am about to say is in no way disrespect to any of you from Ohio, but I'm just simply gonna state some facts:
There is no water in Ohio, obviously we all know that is untrue, but the Ohioans (lol) seem to feel the need to come down to our great state and invade our waterways every weekend, which has led me to believe that although I know there is water in Ohio, someone obviously didnt send the memo to the locals. What does friday look like on a interstate in Ky? It looks like a civilian navy from the buckeye state, all with boats in tow, in the damn left lane, running at or below the speedlimit. Because of their little knowledge of proper trailer pulling techniques, it is necessary for you to leave them substantial room to make errors (i.e. cut you off or run you off the road) Their boat operating skills are another sore spot with me, and I dont feel like ranting about it now as I am afraid I might pick up the computer I am on now at work and chunk it over the divider. I am sure that there are some good drivers from Ohio, but I think they all stay in Ohio for the weekend. 99% of the road rage I get comes from someone in front of me with Ohio plates. Again, not being sterotypical here, just stating my observations. If you are from Ohio and you are reading this, dont get mad, but speaking on behalf of all Kentuckians, we would like to take this opprotunity to ask you to GET YOUR ASS IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE IF YOUR PULLING YOUR BARGE DOWN HERE TO POLLUTE OUR WATER AND LET THE REST OF US AROUND DAMMIT. Some of us have jobs and places to be, and we dont have time to be codlocked in on the interstate looking at the back of a 600 foot ski barge named "Easy Money" or some crap like that. How damn hard is that to undertand?

I absolutly hate when people slow down to see an accident that has occured on the other side of the highway. What do they excpet to see - heads rolling in the gutter or something. People here will slow down to look at anything that might be an accident: tire changing, someone pulled over, once I was driving home and traffic was backed up for miles. There was a truck that was towing a boat which had broken down. The people in the truck had gotten out of the truck while waiting for a tow truck. Everyone had slowed down to see them because they we all sitting in the boat with their fishing rods pretending to fish in the middle of the highway. The traffic was annoying but at least these people had found some humor in their truck breaking down.

Yeah that's the thing I hate the most. People act like they have never seen a disabled car before. An accident should not bring traffic to a standstill, unless it is blocking lanes. I get annoyed when a normally 2 1/2 hour trip takes me 4 hours just because everyone has to see what's going on!

Help please !!!
I find myself getting so angry at people sometimes I feel like I'm about to snap ! I have no problem whatsoever with people passing me or getting in front of me, but if you're going to get in front, go for it !! don't drag out in front of me, then slam on your brakes and drive 10 mi below the speed limit These are the idiots that probably didn't even use a turn signal (that is my #1 pet peeve!, I'm just supposed to use my powers to predict what it is you wanna do, right.... wrong !)
My dad is a truck driver so he has to deal with idiots all day, every day in like every state...one time when he had a day off and was at home (Baltimore) this guy kept swerving in and out of the lane next to him, jumping back and forth . Each time he got in front of my dad, he would slam on his breaks . Finally my dad got so fed up that he pulled up alongside him and threw an open water bottle into the guy's window at him . When my mom told me, it was so funny to me, but then I realized that I was on the path to becoming just like him . Does anyone have any advice on how to calm yourself when dealing with these idiots that never should have been allowed to licensed in the 1st place?
P.S. - I think old people (anyone over 80) are the worst ! With all the rules and regulations they put on young people, what about them?

Bumping this old thread...
The crazies were out today. I'm not sure which was my favorite:
1. I stopped for gas on my way to work this morning. I tried to pull into a pump, realized I couldn't make it (idiot had stopped his car too far from the pump), stopped, backed up, and went for a different pump. Next thing I know some jerk is screaming at me waving his fist and claiming I hit his car. TWO witnesses said I did not.
2. On my way home, I was being tailgated by a semi in heavy traffic well, he passed me on the right and proceeded to tailgate the next car. When he went to pass that car on the right, he neglected to check his mirrors; if he had, he might have seen the car in the right lane! That car was forced onto the shoulder. So, the genius driving the car punched it, passed the truck on the shoulder, cut back into the right lane and brake-checked the semi. Dumb and dumber!

Wow, that's awesome...TT drivers are maniacs, i've been seeing them do more and more crazier shit lately, e.g., pulling u-turns in intersections.
p.s. good to see a thread with my former alter-ego.

Not for nothing, but it seems you quite frequently complain about how other drivers are bad and get angry at you.

Actually I'm a pretty safe and courteous driver. I let people in, I acknowledge when others let me in (yes, I wave using more than one finger ), I don't weave in and out of traffic or tailgate.
Maybe that's my problem... the average New York driver doesn't know what to do when confronted with someone polite. "She's letting me in? What's she up to?? I'd better flip her the bird as I speed past, just to be safe...."

This isn't about you because thank god for courteous drivers but this all reminded me of something.
There is a fine line between driving too assertively and not assertively enough. People around here drive me crazy because no one knows how to merge. They'll actually go 30-35 on an on ramp, brake before entering traffic or worse, stop and expect to be let in when they had at least another half a mile to get up to speed and find a place to merge gracefully. Seriously, if you are moving almost the same speed as the traffic on the highway you need a much smaller opening to get in safely.
