No matter what org you are in, if you are go around PLAYING IT UP that you are an XYZ, you'd better know your up from your down.

If you don't, you'd better refresh your memory before you open your mouth. I don't care if you are a "celebrity", if you can't represent my org as a well-informed individual who knows what is going on with the sorority/fraternity, I'd rather you didn't at all.

Every pledge class has its "ghostbrother" or "ghostsister." If you don't know what that means its basically the person in your pledge class that just does enough to get initiated and the kid never comes to chapter or much of anything except a party and sometimes not even that. Its unfortunate but you have to admit it does happen. Basically since he never comes around since his initiation it probably didn't mean much to him in the first place, therefore he wouldn't know much if anything about your ritual. So that sounds like what this guy was...that pledgeclasses ghostbrother. He got initiated, got his letters and then doesn't want to be bothered with the work and effort that a good brother would portray. Bball was more important to him. It sucks that he doesn't take your organization seriously and takes it for granted but you still should love him like any other brother of your Fraternity. Maybe you should get him involved in his offseason and possibly he'll come back and become the good alum that he could/should be.

I don't think that is a very fair generalization to make for a BGLO member to make about GLOs, and quite frankly, it is something I am very tired of reading on this bulletin board.

I do appreciate your clarification about the fact that "knowing sh*t" (whatever that means) is intrinsically important to BGLOs, but I do not appreciate your blanket statement that BGLOs are more dedicated, or that their memberships mean more or last longer than do those of GLOs.

I am a GLO member (alumna), and I work with a ton of women who are my sisters and take their membership as a serious life's work. This is true of both sororites and fraternities in the GLO system.

All I'm saying is this: please don't go making blanket statements about something you aren't a part of (by choice). You wouldn't like it if GLO members said such things about BGLOs, so practice a little Golden Rule before you post, next time.

No need to be offended. I'm not a part of your organization so therefore I do not know the structure of it. Although this has nothing to do with this topic, I will state breifly that I still beleive Alumnae involvement for most GLO's is different than members of BGLO's. (Check previous topics on this matter)
