As a Miami native, I know that Memorial Day Weekend B.K.A "Black Beach/Hip Hop weekend" (that's what the local news calls it) is not a great weekend to go to SoBe as a couple.

Even though it's really nice during the summer (mini-cruises, Art Deco District, Caribbean festivals, etc.), it's worth it to wait a couple weeks until June to do something really nice. We have Art Basel (a display of different artists work out on the storefronts, A-list celebs come into town, wine tastings, etc.). We also have the Black Film Festival, I think that runs in July - don't quote me here, but if you're going with a guy, you wouldn't want to go during Memorial Weekend. It's oversaturated with horny, black men with one track minds and scantilly-clad women - thing fig leaves!
