I wanted that to happen, too.

Imagine thinking you're the only human for 3 years.
You'd be emotionally attached to bacon, those mannequins, and Shrek. I completely understand why he didn't know how to handle humans being around him.

I just saw the movie, and I deliberately avoided this thread until after I had seen it. I wish I had read it before, because I wouldn't have gone. I cried over Sam. I cried when Will Smith said to the mannequin, "Please say hello. Please... say hello." I cried when the helicopter was taking off with Will's family inside.
I had no idea that this movie was going to be so sad (and scary!). Ugh. I'm still recovering. I have to admit, however, that Will Smith did an outstanding job. He really has come a long way, and is steadily making his way to the top of my list of favorite actors.

I think Will Smith just gets better and better. I was a bit confused on the whole human zombie thing. I did read (on this thread?) that they were supposed to be vampires in the book, which would have made a lot more sense. If they exhibit no human traits anymore (as he stated while doing the exam on the female he caught) how did that one who was all pissed set a trap and put Fred near the museum? Also what the heck was with the super human strength, and the one who was throwing him(Smith) around with it's mouth? Does a mutated virus turn us all into dark seekers who then gain super-human jumping powers?
It was good, I hid in my jacket part of the time. The Sam part made me sad. Poor puppy!
Overall it was good, but I like the twist that someone suggested about there not being a survivor's colony. That would have been good.
ETA: My husband was pissed about the grenade issue, he said, "Grenades do not blow up like that, they are not incendiary devices. What kills you is the schrapnel."

^^^ I got the impression that at least some of them had higher intelligence and I REALLY wish they had explored that, even for a little bit.

I also got that impression, because it was the same one who set the trap and was trying to bust through the glass at the end as well being the same one who saw him after he trapped the female vampirozombie.
I guess there are just some holes that we will have to deal with when we watch.
