I'm a charter member of the Theta Gamma chapter of Alpha Delta Pi at Sonoma State University. We were a local organization that had existed for five years when we affiliated. We had about 37 women (6 became AI initiates of Adpi because of graduation) when we began the process, which is small for our campus. Greek life has been growing steadily on our campus and another NPC is a great addition to our campus. Now after fall recruitment where we had a 130+ girls show up for our recruitment (after the other 3 NPCs recruited) we have 80 members.
Being a charter member has been amazing. I have gotten the opportunity to meet the international officers (and be initiated by them) which many women will never do. It's been such a fun and exciting time and i'm so glad to be a part of.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! I have met the fraternity president and other important officers multiple times. We're so lucky.

Let's not!
All your founders should be dead by now when they found your fraternity in the late 1800's.

It's like a civil war in Africa; you know, it doesn't really concern you too much. - P.J. O'Rourke

I didn't say "Let's hear it for founders." I'm a charter member of my chapter, not the entire org. Duh.

i am not a charter member, but i am the former general advisor for our kappa tau chapter(fl. gulf coast u.)-i was with them from the start. i have nothing but admiration for ANY charter member of ANY greek organization.
you all have to work twice as hard as those of us who joined established chapters. you are attending pledge meetings while you are volunteering to serve as your colony's first officers. you get to start your own traditions. as was mentioned previously, you get to meet the national officers and often work directly with them.
as for your bid not meaning the same, in my eyes it means more-you are not having to impress your peers, you have to impress your national officers and local alumnae, which is often harder. i hope that you all realize what a privelege you have been given and how special you are!!
