When I was in school-- We had a pair of twins join our chapter. There were also a pair of twins at KD. Another pair of twins split-- one joined KD and the other was an Alpha Xi.

The most recent set from last year, I distinctly remember that they were very adamant about not being viewed as a "matching set." Rush groups are assigned alphabetically by last name, so they would've been in the same one, but they insisted on being separated. They even went to 2 different high schools. They didn't room together on campus either.

Throughout rush, they would get mad if anyone happened to mention that they had a twin. I think they were just really focused on not being treated like a "package deal" which I can understand because I think people tend to treat identical twins that way sometimes.

They both preffed and joined different chapters and were very happy with that. I had one of them in class at the time, and I congratulated her on her bid, ndshe responded "OMG thanks, I'm just glad I ddn't end up in the same one as my sister or I would've gone nuts."
That's the funny thing about twins...or siblings in general. Some are super close and wouldn't think twice of not joining the same group. I think these twins are content with being associated with one another. Other twins have nothing in common other than blood. My little brother and sister are obviously not identical twins, but as fraternal twins you'd never be able to tell they grew up together. They never talk and aren't any closer to each other than they are to me and our older sister. The twins that don't want to be lumped together, I'm sure, do have to implicitely state their intentions. The general public would see them as a package deal because most people think that twins are just the same person like clones!

There are twins in my law school class that went to the same undergrad and both pledged DG - I'm pretty sure they still live together too.

Seriously, there is something wrong with that!
There was a set of identical triplets when I was in college (I transferred in as a Junior and they were my year) that seemed to be the same way. I think they were TriDelts.

When i was a freshmen, we had a set of senior twins like that - same room, same major, same classes, same bunk bed on the porch (one on top, one on bottom, obviously!). To this day I don't know which is which.

I had a set of twins last semester in my Rho Gamma group. One was a little more outgoing than the other so she had more of her preferred chapters come preference night. Shy decided to drop out after preference (she didn't see herself in her remaining options, and frankly, neither did I) and Outgoing suicided a chapter that was not on Shy's list. Outgoing ended up not receiving a bid, but I think it was for the best, because they are the type of twins that does everything together.

OMG. i Just spent the last hour reading that at work, I couldn't stop, ate my lunch at my desk. i am so ........ MAD!!!

I tried to stay away from the recruitment threads, I guess because I never went through it, and went to a much smaller school with 5 orgs and it was much less competitive (I didn't even know anything about rec's until i started posting here) so, maybe i should stay away anyway lol

Over the years we've had several sets of twins join our chapter. This past FR we got two fabulous twin sisters. They are not identical but still very close. They said that they refused to talk about recruitment to each other because they wanted to make their own decisions, and on bid day they were both very excited to find that they went the same chapter! Although these girls are very close, they are both very determined to lead their own lives, make their own decisions, etc. I think this is a special case, though, because other twins we've had have always been inseperable and didn't want to do anything without the other.

At UF this year, there were several sets of twins who went through recruitment. Of these sets, 3 of them requested to be in the same chapter. And I do mean requested. Panhellenic actually instructed the chapters to either invite back both or neither girls from a set of twins who desired to be in the same chapter.

Wow. Can panhellenic really do that? What ended up happening to those girls?

I know that others will disagree with me, but if that's what they truly wanted, I see nothing wrong with this.
