honestly, weve all been new on gc. weve all made mistakes like asking a quetion thats been asked a million times because we didnt bother to check out the search function--which by the way is sooo much easier to find since the new gc came out!!. weve all had not so nice responses by gcers that have been on here longer than us. and then weve been the ones that have been on this for awhile and see new people do the same stuff we used to do and get annoyed by it and figure its our turn to treat them the same way we were treated. i guess its a rite of passage on gc? if you get a response you dont like to a thread you posted in, dont respond back. it only adds fuel to the fire. read around for awhile, and then try posting again in a different forum. this isnt real life--youre not gonna see these people face to face (most likely anyways). therefore, if you dont like what people are writing, unsubscribe to the thread and stop reading it!!

**weve is being used generically here. weve doesnt imply everyone. im sure that there are people that have never had this happen to them. but for this forum ive decided to generalize**

So basically, if your opinion differs from the popular opinion, you're a troll. That's funny as hell to me. A member can actually be a troll, but if he/she holds the popular opinion, then people not only love this joker, but they think he/she is a real member. Dumb jokers.

Example: There's a joker on here who thinks it's o.k. for a man to wear a damn bra. Most of these silly jokers on here loved this thread too, simply because his thread was popular on GC. A man wearing a bra? What a joke.
Did he have a mustache and constantly talk about his foot fetish?

Yo Rudey, is it getting snarkier than a bunch of sharks circling for the body?

Missed you buddy!

Yes, as KSig RC says, rookies and old timers on this, as on all, boards can be jerks. Welcome to life.

But personally, I don't think it's a matter or newbies needing to be quiet at all. Still, the reality is that old timers may have experience and see things that the newbies don't see.

You may think of it as simply using the wrong word or not being able to give as much insight as some of the veteran-posters. But others who have been around longer have seen that sometimes, lack of precision on things like whether someone can join a second NPC group has caused major headaches and misunderstandings.

I don't think anyone has ripped you a new one, at least not in the thread that I imagine gave rise to this one. In fact, I think that more than one person said they weren't trying to attack you, but were trying to avoid misunderstanding that has been seen in the past.

Alphafrog, if you were the only person I saw on GC that I thought needed to hear my thoughts I would have just PMed you. I am not isolating my criticism to you, but yes, your comment in another thread did become a last straw.

And yeah, I do realize this is the exact thing that drives you veterans nuts, and you know what? I don't care. Furthermore, I hope you were talking about someone else when you were referring to AOL chatspeak, because I always try to make sure I post in complete sentences, without typos (as much as could be expected on a forum) and with correct capitalization, even.

And as far as learning atmosphere/posting style, I have something I think can be added as a search function feature. There isn't a way to look up an abbreviation on this site if the abbreviation is 3 characters or less. So I am sorry for having to ask what certain things mean sometimes.

As far as getting PMs saying that I'm nice, if I get any I would certainly not share, but that is honestly not even close to the reason I am posting. I am posting because I think that some old posters should check their self-righteous attitude at the login and learn to let something go if a newbie poster says something you find annoying because of our inexperience.

I'm not asking for GC to change for me, I'm asking whether the attitude (however long it has been around) is beneficial to the purpose of having greek chat.

Absolutely not. And I understand the abbreviations take time. It's not irritating when someone asks about something like that when they don't understand. It's irritating when someone posts about NPC unanimous agreements that they don't fully understand.

No, not just for you, but for all the newbies who have come before and who will come after. How nice of you to martyr yourself. Speaking of self-righteous.

You're right -- I don't fully understand them. Is that a prerequisite to making a comment when I knew more than the original poster? I'm sure there is someone out there that understands the unanimous agreements even more than you do so maybe you should let them post for you.

It's been explained to you - there's a reason why that's one rule that we must be 100% crystal clear on. Yes, there's probably a lot I don't know about the unanimous agreements, and if I make a mistake posting about it (or any other NPC rules), I fully expect to be corrected. I learn from my mistake and move on. Depending on who it is that corrects me, I may banter back and forth with them, just to mess with them, but it's really not that big of deal.

I think it important to differentiate between being corrected for an error in a factual discussion, and a personal attack.
Too often newbies confuse the two.
Not that I'm an old-timer or anything.

Then honestly, why are you bitching? If you don't care that certain things drive the "veteran" GCers (btw, do I qualify as a veteran? lol) nuts, why did you make this post?

Did you really think we were all going to applaud you for what you said?

Yes! If your going to give advice to someone, GIVE THEM ACCURATE ADVICE!

You're not the first, nor will you be the last to bitch about this topic, but we aren't changing. So deal. (And I don't care if I sound bitchy).

ETA: BAITY?....lol (Sorry, just had to ask)

In one instance where the OP got her ass handed to her, so to speak, is because she was posting blatantly wrong information that was pretty elementary knowledge. That's going to happen.

It's teh intarweb. Get over it.

If you take a look at the original poster's posts in that thread, I think it will be clear who she was talking about.
