The bright side is that you don't dislike any of the chapters. Rejection stings, but you still have one that you love, plus two more that you're so-so about and the next round could change your mind about them! Good luck!

Princessjv,

I am so glad you were cut by Belle early. Now, before you get mad, and think I'm wishing evil on your rush experience, listen to why! In the past, before release figures, Belle would have had the option of keeping you around all week even if they had no intention of offering you a bid. This new system forces chapters to release people they aren't really interested in pledging and allows those women sufficient time to see what the other chapters have to offer rather than spending a whole week dreaming about groups that they won't get bids from. The other groups on your campus are likely just as wonderful, and now you get the chance to focus on them without Belle getting in the way. Enjoy the rest of your week and best of luck!

I'm sure you will be in love with at least 2 other houses after this round. Can't wait for the recap. Good luck!

Your gracious attitude indicates one lovely princessjv to me - it only takes one, and that one will be quite the lucky sorority!

Aww thanks ladies for all of your support!

Tonight was a lot of fun, it was theme parties! Everyone had really original, very cute themes with awesome decorations and such. My opinions about each house changed a bit, but not completely!

So the recap:

Ariel- I'm still loving this house, they had the best theme by far and their house was just amazing (I'd love to go into more detail but I can't..maybe once recruitment is over!). I had awesome conversations and it seemed like every girl new my name and girls that I had talked to the past two nights came back to talk to me again and it was sweet! (I still have yet to talk to my best friend ahah but I figure thats okay because she already knows me, its better that I meet a bunch of the other girls!) I left feeling very good about the house and the girls and the night in general.

I really, really, really hope that I get invited to this house tomorrow, I think I'll be devastated if I don't get invited back.

Cinderella- I definitly like this house a lot more than I did the first two days. Their theme was also really cute and very fitting for the chapter. I left this housing feeling good about the chapter and that I definitly like it a lot more, but at the same time it's nothing compared to how I think of Ariel.

Sleeping Beauty- I had fun at this house but at times it was a little awkward. They have alumnae helping out with rush (like I said, they are a smaller chapter) and I have great conversations with the alumnae but its hard to distinguish which members are alumnae or active and I don't know if I've spoken to a lot of active members...so I don't think I can base my decision off of the alumnae that I'm meeting. I'm still very unsure.

My unofficial ranking of the houses:
Ariel
Cinderella
Sleeping Beauty

So tomorrow morning I go to pick up my invites! If I get invited to all three sororities I have to drop one, or I could get dropped by a house and be invited to two only.

I'll update tomorrow when I find out!!

ETA: AOII Angel, I'm not sure if our school uses release figures..does everyone? Actually I have no idea at all how they do things. I was told all the chapters make a list of girls that they want to invite back and give it to the panhellenic council and they figure everything out, same for bid matching.
Not too sure though, it's very confusing.

A lot, but not all campuses are using release figures. The chapters do give their lists to Panhellenic, but they just write out the invites. The chapters may have their own projected release numbers, may use the old system or use the new release figures which are calculated to make the chapters with the highest return rates (i.e. most popular with PNMs) release more women each round.

Sounds like things are going really well. Your friend may be staying away from you at parties as to not make you feel pressured. Good luck with your invites today!

Most chapters have alumnae help out during recruitment, not just small ones. There's a lot of behind the scenes work to do including getting drinks, cleaning up food, cleaning up and setting up philanthropy activities, the list goes on. When alumnae do these mundane (but very important) tasks, it frees up actives to talk to PNMs. I highly doubt you had a conversation with an alumna. Is there something in the Green Book about alumnae recruiting PNMs?

She obviously just stated that she did have conversations with alumnae. That means she did. Let's not rain on her recruitment thread with the Green Book right now.

The only reference I can find in the GB is that initiated collegiate members, new members, and national representatives are to assist chapters with recruitment activities. There is not any statement (that I can find) that says alumnae may or may not assist chapters in the background (though we know they all do - I've been informed this is at the discretion of the college Panhellenic), not nothing is blanketly stated that alumnae may not converse.

I know that some campus Panhellenics (including my own) have a campus rule agreed upon by the chapters that if a chapter has lower numbers on the floor, they can allow collegiate members from another chapter to be on the floor recruiting. The chapter can often only have as many non-chapter members present to equal the next smallest house. Those members from another chapter must be identified as such, however, and I do not know if they participate in member selection. I would assume that alumnae would need to be identified in a similar manner.

Back the regularly scheduled thread... good luck!

I definitly don't undermine alumane for helping out, I thought it was fantastic that they were still actively involved with their chapters! However, the majority of the women I had talked to and had great conversations with had pointed out that they were alumnae now.

In any case, I got my invites back! I was invited back to all three! So I had to choose a house to drop and I ended up dropping Sleeping Beauty. I just can't see myself there like I can with Ariel and Cinderella.

I can't wait for tonight, I'm so excited but yet so nervous!!

Also, I totally forgot to add my friends to this thread cos I have a few going through with me..so I'll post what houses they are going to tonight!

M- M is attending pref parties at Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Cinderella has been her favourite since the start of the week!

N- Throughout recruitment N has been invited back to all the parties! Tonight she is going to Ariel and Belle, her two favourites.

Anndd I haven't heard from anyone else yet so when I post tonight I'll add the other girls!

Thanks for all the luck and support ladies!

Good luck to night to you and your friends. I am pulling for Ariel for no reason other than WAY BACK IN THE DAY my GLO did a whole Under the Sea skit thing. Totally cheesey but FANTASTIC in its cheesiness! LOL

I hope you find your castle... no matter what "princess" you choose for your sisterhood!

I interpreted her first comment to mean that she wasn't sure if the women she met were actives or alumnae. She clarified in a later post to say that she did meet alumnae.
