Sonic is headquartered in Edmond, Okla, or was, may be in Oklahoma City now. The use Frankie Avalon for many of their commercials. It is much like an A&W, they are all drive-ins with the menu on a sign, give the order through a speaker, and delivered by a car-hop. In small town Oklahoma the local Sonic is at the end of 'the drag' and is used as the turnaround point. Usually a Wal-Mart or grocery store at the other end is the other turnaround. They do make a pretty mean hamburger and tots.

Hey Killarneyrose,
I am from Maryland too, and I see the sammme commercials, and no sonic, it looks good, but I don't think there are any in MD, but I believe there are some on the west coast, west coast people correct me if I am wrong.

I Love Sonic. I'm in LA too and I think its great. The hamburgers are big so you definitely get full. They just opened one by my house and it is always packed. I like their ice cream too. I will go for a Sonic Cookie Blast anyday.

We've got Sonic in Georgia. If you don't have a Sonic nearby and want something similar, try a Checkers or Central Park. (Of course, you may not have those chains either!)

Can't forget Taco John's - best fast-food mexican this side of Tasty Tacos, that's what i miss most about being on the east coast: potato oles.
As far as Sonic goes, I think the food is generally pretty gross really - the drinks are solid though

We had a Sonic in my hometown in Mississippi when I was growing up--don't know if they are still around, but I think they are. There are Sonics in South Carolina. I like their food. My husband likes the Frito Chili Pies.
I've had their breakfast and enjoyed it. The slushes are good and so are the milkshakes. Love their onion rings, too.

One just opened in Charlotte on US-74 but I have not been though. I have never had Sonic but I cannot wait to try it.

I haven't tried Sonic breakfast, but for the most part their food is good. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their slushes!!!
One thing about their slushes though, I've noticed if you get one during a "peak" hour, they are not so slushy.
I think my favorite food item there would be their grilled chicken wrap or their mozzerella sticks

I keep seeing ads for Sonic, which is really odd since there aren't any around here (Connecticut) ... I guess they're just advertising on the national level, but it seems like a waste of money if there are so many regions where they have no locations
