.............................what?
and to respond to the OP, do your own research on campus and online. sorry to be bitchy about it, but it's pretty damn easy. i highly doubt anyone here is going to be clamouring to recruit you so take your questions to people who might be--the greeks on your campus.

1. Always be honest. If you lie you will get caught. There are so many people on college campuses and there is someone there that knows the truth about your past.
2. Talk to the members of the houses you would be interested. Express interest to them. Be enthusiastic.
3. Talk about what skills you can be to the house. Be confident not cocky.
4. If you are a good student tell them. If you are a bad student tell them that as well.
5. Ask Questions.
6. Visit Websites.
7. Look at myspace pages of chapter members.
8. Talk to women on your campus and ask them questions about the honor and integrity of the guys in houses (This may sound strange but I know I can trust my brothers with my sister and often times women are the best judge of this character trait).
9. Dress how you dress normally (unless there is an event that requires a shirt, tie, and slacks----On that note: Jeans are never appropriate for a formal business meeting, and in the end when a good fraternity asks you to dress up for an event they want you to dress the way you would dress if you were meeting a banker or a businessman).
10. Bring friends with you to events. If you find a house you like tell others. People tend to have an easier time with recruitment when they go through it with friends. This will also help you find a life-long bond with your college buddies.
11. This list could go on forever and ever but the best advice I could give you is to help us rid ourselves of the horrible sterotypes that follow Fraternity Men around the country and stop using the word FRAT.
This has been my 11 Cents so if someone wants to add to this list feel free. I hope I have not stepped on the toes of anyone. If I did I apologize.

FRAT is not a bad word among NPHC fraternities.

Future Greek,
Deciding -It's easy. Here's the formula for going from "Future Greek" to "elated pledge/excited active/involved alumnae." Read the above quote: Go through rush. Attend as many rush events as you can. Then pledge the house where your heart is at; and work hard to activate. Don't loose track of either your chapter or your national after you graduate. Enjoy the experience for the rest of your life!!!
Oh, and don't forget to tell GC about your rush, even if you have to "retro" it.

And I know a lot of NIC men who use the word frat, too. I think there are a lot larger issues plaguing the Greek System than nicknames, but I can understand being sensitive if you don't like using the word or hearing it.

If your going for a NPHC do your your research:checkout any books about them, visit their national websites, talk to older and current members but show discretion! Go to any programs they host on campus and try to do volunteer work with them.Make sure you choose for the right reasons (not who throws the best parties, whose known on campus, etc.) and choose what you would be a best fit for not what your friends are a best fit for. Hope this helps from one aspirant to another.
