Thumbs up

Limp Bizkit!
I love Fred Durst, but if you just looked at me you wouldn't think so. But I do! I've been to 2 of their concerts and I'm probably going to go to the one comming to Ga soon, tickets havent went on sale yet. I also went out and bought their new cd, the first day it came out. I didn't even know what all was on it I knew I'd like it though!

But I'm really starting to listen to stuff like Christina, N'Sync, 98 degrees..all the little teeny bopper stuff. I also like some of the other bands like Creed, Vertical Horizon, Smash Mouth, No Doubt, Sugar Ray, Dave Matthews, and a few more. Everyone is so surprised when they find out I love these bands. Man, if they only knew I used to love Nirvana back in the day too!

ZChi,

Dave Matthews is the man! I love Dave Matthews. Can't wait till the new album comes out. But back to the question at hand,
you'd never know it by looking at me that I was a big fan of New Kids on the Block and that I loved Jack Wagner.(when he on General Hospital and pretending he was the next Rick Springfield) I had all of his albums

Well... I'm a total dave matthews groupie. And in my car at all times are at least one DMB cd, one Foo Fighters and one matchbox 20--- so when I break out the Backstreet Boys -- I know! I know! I'm embarrassed but I love them -- well recently my assistant took the cd away from me and handed me my limp bizkit cause she just could not handle the idea of me and the backstreet--or maybe it was me singing larger than life all throughout the office...hmmmm. LOL

Hip Hop! Love dancing to it...generally a surprise to those who don't know me too well, but a given to those who do.

I like pretty much everything except country, and I think that's what surprises people. For example, on the same tape I have Eminem, songs from the musical "Tommy," No Doubt, N'Sync, Green Day, Britney Spears, Billy Joel, Depeche Mode, U2, The Police...just about everything! I think the thing that shocks the most people though is that I have the biggest crush on Eminem...even though he's SOOOOO not my type. I guess I kinda like the whole bad boy side of him.

That I have been downloading the heck out of Journey. Since I saw them on VH-1's "Behind the Music" I have gotten into them once again!

I'm very into reggae and roots ska, which surprises a lot of people (especially b/c i'm from iowa - it's this whole 'farmer-got-soul' thing i don't really understand - hey i'm from the city, smart guy) - i love it though, toots and the maytals, peter tosh, desmond dekker, the slackers, yellowman, buju banton, rocker t, the heptones, all that good stuff. amazing.

also, unrelated but similar, some girl told me last week that i "don't look like an engineer" - what the hell does that mean?!? she said i looked like i should be in the college of communications. i just laughed

OK, I know that I am a severe Hip Hop Head!!! true hip hop like Jay-Z, Gangstarr, Talib Kweli/Mos Def, Slum Village, Common, etc. Anyone with more than 1 platinum tooth or three chains is usually a passing fad, so I typically don't get too much into "one-hit wonder" groups that spend most of their career calling everybody a bi^%h and a H@ while drinking something out of the bottle! Give me a message, people!
Anyhoo, with that said, people would probably be shocked to know that I loooove No Doubt (listen to them almost every day! ) Steely Dan - the original stuff from the 70's, Fleetwood Mac, and <<soror6 doing a drumroll....>> Classical music by Tchaikovsky! Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... Don't tell anybody!

People are sometimes surprised to find out that I love The Cure and have since '89. They are even more surprised to learn that I like rap: Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre, etc. I don't like anything hardcore, so I prefer the songs you hear on the radio as opposed to the ones that are on the actual c.d. I also like reggae and ska. OOH...I just LOVE Sublime!!!

I'm not sure if I've really "suprised" anyone with my musical taste. I'm really eclectic in what like. I tend to lean away from country and rap. It really depends on where I am though or the situation. In my car to work I usually listed to (D.C. stations) Z104, DC101, and Mix 107.3. Lately the songs I enjoy most have been with Match Box 20(come home?), Vertical Horizon(one of them is "best I ever had"). Theres this song on Mix 107.3 "I'll stop the world and melt with you". Then I like Creed, Dave Mathews, Celine Dion, Back Street Boys. I also like Erasure...Thats an old favorite of mine. The others are posted on another thread.

No Doubt, Limp Bizkit, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, you name it. If it sounds good to my ears, from gospel to rap to rock, my ears are wide open!

Most people would never believe that i like country music. Not all country music but i like a lot of it. Garth Brooks used to be my favorite. I am from Tennessee so when people find out I like country they say it b/c of where I'm from. I especially loved Thunder Rolls, it was and is still one of my favorites.

People are medically shocked that I am a die hard Toriphile! I AM ADDICTED TO TORI AMOS! Anyone else LOVE TORI!??!? I've seen her live 5 times!! God, she touches my soul and can make me weep no matter what mood I'm in: contemplative, sad, happy. She has such a way with a pen and words. Put them together and she can make me her devoted slave!
I love Pavement, Psychedelic Furs, The Church, Duran Duran, The Cure, They Might Be Giants, all those AWESOME 80's new wave bands that NO ONE PLAYS ANYMORE! I also love old 80's heavy metal: Poison, Warrant, Metallica, Whitesnake, etc. I hate most of the music played on mainstream radio today, but there are a few bands and artists from today that I do like: Alanis, Duncan Sheik, Radiohead, Coldplay, Deftones, Paula Cole, and Elliott Smith. If I DO listen to hip hop-like music, it's Beastie Boys or Cibo Matto. Oh and Sarah MacLachlan! Love her! I also love techno and trip hop: Tricky, Portishead, Esthero, Massive Attack, Bjork. I love ambient music too. I am starting to get into country too. LeeAnn Womack's new album is wonderful! I love classical. My fave opera piece is the soprano duet from "Lakme". I love old blues, too: Etta James, Nina Simone, "Ma Vie En Rose"...I also love old AM radio classics: Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin", James Taylor, Billy Joel, Bread, Jim Croce. Oh and who can forget PICK FLOYD and LED ZEPPELIN and RUSH and JOURNEY!! I am also a disco freak: "Ring My Bell", "Dancing Queen", Three Dog Night, Bay City Rollers!! Lately I am also really into classic R&B: Bill Withers, Peaches and Herb, "Always and Forever"!!! If it isn't obvious by now, I am a serious music addict. I wish I had stuck with piano so I could make it myself! But I am a pretty good singer, if I do say so myself!!
I bless the internet gods for allowing a way for me to listen to my fave station in the world: 99.9 WBTZ The Buzz out of Burlington, VT.
