Well, the proliferation of RFM has rendered this moot.

Maybe it should be retitled "how does your school handle bidless PNMs who still have to stay in PNM housing for 3 more days?"

I think there are still smaller schools with fewer rounds (i.e. no cutting till pref) where bidless PNMs can be a problem. Not as hugely perhaps, but it's still huge for them.

We get our bids from 2-4 on bid day from our PX, they come to our door and hand it to us, you either get a bid, or a letter explaining they could not place you. The PX's will stay and talk to a girl if she is upset. I freaked out because I didn't get my bid until 4:30 because the rest of my group lived in the res halls across campus and my PX was late. We COB for about a week or two into the new member period, and my group personally ussually offers 2-3, other groups offer more.

Then we teeter off to a hazing seminar, and then bid day festivities.

Don't you do anything to notify the bidded PNMs so they don't have to worry like that? I.e., if they don't get a phone call, they know they have a bid somewhere?

I would hate like hell to get a letter saying I didn't get a bid while the girl next door to me in the dorm is jumping up and down from happiness because she did. At least give the bidless girls a chance to leave what could be a potentially very upsetting situation.

You get all your letters at different times. In your room you can open it and have a private moment. Yeah I guess it can suck when everyone is jumping up and down and excited, but you can just shut your door. It's not like they're in the other girls room. People at my school are pretty respectful because many girls don't get bids, we have fairly competitive recruitment, girls who are excited are the ones who actually tend to leave and tone it down so they don't make the girls who didn't get bids feel bad.

At my school where we have over 1000 girls rush, the Pi Chis call at any time during the week if you do not recieve a bid. If you completed rush and did not recieve a bid, you will recieve a call sometime between late night on pref night and early the next morning (bid day). If you want to meet with a Pi Chi, they were available to talk. My Pi Chis would come over at like midnight if we needed them to, help you pick out outfits, etc. They were an amazing group of women! Not all PNM's are in housing, most are in dorms but some (very few) are off campus. We do not have snap bids, and COB doesn't officially start until the end of the semester/second semester.

ive always wondered about that. last year the sorority i wanted to be in cut me after skit day. I was sad. the girl at the chapter that i spoke with was kinda..well she asked me "how many houses do you left attending today?". funny cuz that was the only house i had that day, and i was honest and told her. I think that might have been the reason they cut me..thought i was not very highly demanded.

This happened a year ago. Today I am part of another chapter. But I can't exactly say I am the happiest person with it. I still wonder what it'd be if I didn't say what I said on skit day...

somebody tell me i'm insane plz.

Very inappropriate for that active to ask that question. The only time that can be appropriately asked is when its open house/parties where there have not been any cuts yet. Sorry that happened to you.

Thank you Katy.

Yeah I thought it was inappropriate too. What's even worse was I brought up what she said to my Rho Chi, and she just shrugged and said, "well atleast your dress is pretty"...

Actually, if they have sisters that are that insensitive and/or clueless and/or indiscreet, it sounds like you dodged a bullet, big time.

Quit worrying about it and concentrate on becoming a happy and productive member of the chapter that DID welcome you into its sisterhood.

Playing the "what if" or "the one that got away" isn't doing you a damn bit of good

When I went through the process, bids were given out on a Saturday. All PNMs were told to expect a bid between the hours of X and Y. (Historically speaking, they used to slip the bid card under your door. Now they have all the PNMs meet in a central building on campus and give out bids at the same time, in the same place.) However, all PNMs are told to be "accessible" all day via phone.

PNMs who were not bid matched were called in advance of the appointed hour and then personally visited by a Rho Chi and member of Panhel. The Panhel rep explained the situation, counseled the PNM, and then laid out any additional options available. In many cases, these unmatched PNMs were then offered a snap bid and blended right into the NMC. It was our policy to always keep snap bids private, as many PNMs wanted to keep that on the down low.

I was released after day two. The morning of day three, my Rho Gammas called me and said that they were very sorry but I had been released from the rest of the chapters and that they were willing to meet face-to-face if I wanted to and asked me if I had any questions.

This might interest some people who have been asking about it.
