Maybe... Ill see what the folks say, mainly my dad, and by my dad I mean whatever my mom says. If its alright with him I might consider doing it. Id like to pass it along to my son one day. Need a 3rd generation LCA in the family. I am the only 2nd. I think my mom wanted to buy me the guard, like my dads mother bought his. I'm concerned with the color frankly. Might be cool to get OSU colors... ruby's and pearls, scarlet and gray.
I recall a post a ways back about someone bitching that Herff-Jones would not let them customize their badge, they could only use the designs on their website, or something to that extent. Not sure if this applies to the guard.
I was hoping Tom would ask me what 'blinging' means.

There are several things you can do to the Badges/Guards.......they are offered both in white gold and yellow gold, and you can have various stones placed along the Lambda. I know this because I contacted HJ myself to see what was available for me to do, I can up with some off the wall design.....8 onyxes along the inside of the lambda, and 3 diamonds at the points set in a White Gold Badge, and they were like 'Sure it will be $XXX.XX', but then again they cant do something as simple as 'Antiquing' the rings.......Herff-Jones are an odd bunch over there. They simply have to follow the specifics IHQ gives them, they cant change a design, but they can pretty much customize any other way. Also on a side note, they will not let you replace the pearls in the crescent........I tried that too after seeing one of the badges on Flickr that had rubies in the crescent.

Ok heres the scoop. Aaron Park emailed me back and gave me the details. He said since it was approved last summer there hadnt been all that much interest in it and it got pushed to the back burner, and they do not have an official vendor for graduation cords.
Hopefully they will make an attempt to set this up this coming school year. He said for the mean time:
http://www.greekmarketplace.net/cr/
But they only sell custom cords in 3 dozen.
Probably doesn't help much, but I hope it clears things up.

Jono, correct me if I am wrong, but I think white gold only goes to 10 C, not any more.
Silver, listen to Mom, it does tarnish and would be a pain to keep clean!
White Gold used to have a extra charge on it, but, I do not think H-J says anything about on their site.
Having other than pearls in the crescent, well, I am not sure about that!
Remember, they are different sizes or graduated!
As two Brothers know, I have a Special Badge that I got from a Brother and it has the colors of LXA in it, P G and G! .
It is special and one of a kind!

From bluenile.com
White Gold
Because 18k white gold is 75% gold, and 14k white gold is 58.3% gold, jewelry made from these metals has a slight yellow color. To enhance the whiteness, almost all white gold is plated with rhodium, a shiny, white metal which is extremely hard. Depending on the amount of wear to a piece of jewelry, over time this rhodium plating may wear off, revealing the original metal color. Re-plating is a simple process that can be done to restore your jewelry's whiteness if needed.

If you mean the recognition pin, yes. We deserve better. The idea is that they be worn with a business suit, and therefore they should look classy. These things look as though they came out of a 25 cent machine at a 7-11 - and were a rip-off at that.

Sorry, I think I heard Tom call them friendship pins, I could be misquoting him though. I just found a pic on nationals of what a friendship pin actually is.
So yea, the new recognition pins look like total ass. You are right about the 7-11 metaphor. They look like if I would bite into them it would taste like chocolate or something, or give me tetanus. Glad I have the ones Tom sent me. Thanks Tom!

Yes, Tom and I have a some of the previously manufactured recognition pins. I myself gave away a couple of them at the LCA alumni reception in NYC night before last.
The best one I have, though, I got on ebay. It has the black enamel and is convex. The slight curvature makes a big difference in that it doesn't look like a nail head. That one has class and I keep it under glass (I won't add to that rhyme ).
John Dever, I'm glad you're thinking about thiings like this. You and Trey are two very cool up-and-coming brothers.

Thanks for the kind words.
I swear when I got the thing I looked at it for like 5 minutes trying to figure out what the hell it was supposed to be. Looks just like the X-Men logo.
Similarities are remarkable! Could Cole have designed the X-men logo? Theres a possibility! I think royalties are due.
Enough computer for tonight. Must go bar.
