Smile Update

I wanted to thank everyone for their input and let you know that in the end we chose Greekbill to help us with our collections and overall finances. We looked at both the Lite and Full service options but went with the Full b/c is has a really easy collections process. They notify us of when a members has reached the point where collections are necessary and we okay them on an individual basis. It really has been that simple.. They have been awesome and we couldn't ask for a better service. Our members can pay with credit card and debit card and echeck anytime they need to or they can pay with regular check to GreekBill or still give it directly to me. So far all our members have been very happy and the parents can even use the system too. Thanks again for the help, the billing and collections at www.greekbill.com has been super for us..

I hate this stuff and am absolutely 100% against it.

But apparently we don't have a choice, we'll be using Omega in the fall. I don't personally see a need to bring up the possibility of ruining credit scores, for instance. You're putting a lot of responsibility and faith into the VP Finance to really make sure no promissory notes get lost for instance...because ruining someone's credit score before they leave college because they're a month late on dues is NOT sisterly in any way to me.

I dont know about your org, but the way Omega is set up for Alpha Xi Delta, is that the only way it gets sent to collections is after 4 consecutive late bills. 4. not 1. If you're 30 days late on a car note, or credit card bill, you can guarantee you'll be sent to collections. omega gives us FOUR TIMES that amount to work with this sister to clear this up.

I was FVP for 2 1/2 years and never had to send anybody in my chapter to collections or suspension for failure to pay. Unfortunately, in my 8 months as financial advisor for another chapter, I've already sent 3.

It's called responsibility. you have 4 months to set up a payment plan. With us, as long as you are on a plan, and meeting those requirements, even if 4 months have gone by, we can waiver the collections process until you start not fulfilling the payments obligations.

Omega works. The people are great, and I really like the system.

All Delta Gamma collegiate chapters are required to use GreekBill. We have a customized package for Delta Gamma so that it mirrors our policies and procedures.

I just don't like placing something as important as a sister's credit score in someone else's hands. I am all for personal responsibility and rarely have sympathy for people that just don't want to pay, but there are always special circumstances. And though I take my membership seriously, I still see it as a sorority, not as a legally life changing experience, like a marriage or divorce...or credit score change.

We use billhighway and from what I hear, most people like it.

Think of it this way, if someone isn't paying their dues-and these are the people that will have a problem with it-it keeps the personal out of it. The treasurer no longer has to run after people. There is a third party for that.

As I remember, a member isn't sent to collections unless the chapter specifically instructs Omega to do so. They don't send accounts to collections willy-nilly -- the chapter has to start that process.

For Omega, the chapter has to initiate the collections process and the individual has to have at least $100 that is 120 days past due. Omega will then send a letter asking the member to pay by a certain date or make alternative arrangements for payment. If the member does not comply, then they are sent to collections. I have had to send a member to collections for non-payment of rent for chapter housing.

From one of the smartest people I know who has been CFO of several large companies reccommended Omgea, but if one works for you then stick with it.

The important thing is to get The Money to keep the chapter alive and going.

It takes just a few to spoil it for your chapter.

It looks like my chapter will be switching to Automatic Payment Highway (APH) in the fall.

Does anyone else out there other than the previous few who mentioned APH have any experience with it?
