Awww...so you won't be having us here in Ohio. I'm hoping that we get someone that I'm familiar with/have a relationship with. We have a great PD-C and PD-A...I've been working a lot with both of them recently (PD-C for CA type stuff, PD-A b/c we're trying to boost involvement in our local alumnae chapter and/or start a JC). I'd be happy to have either one of them over our new area - in some regards, it will be nice to work with one person as a contact point for both collegiate issues and alumnae issues. The only drawback is that I like both of them, so its a shame that I won't be working with at least one of them after the new structure takes effect.

There are pros and cons to having a new area. I've been working with the southern lower Michigan chapters for so long (with Zeta Alpha specifically since the day that I graduated from there) and the others since '93 that I know them really really well and it will be strange to not know everything "Michigan" anymore. On the other hand, what I love about my alumnae club is that I get to go and just be a sister without advising, suggesting, being concerned with the details, etc. It's *my* Alpha Gam time to just socialize and have fun with my sisters. I was afraid that relationship would change if they were in my area. Soooooo, this works out well that way.

There are a lot of awesome VST concentrated in Michigan and Ohio so some of us had to venture elsewhere. I know your PDA, but I don't know your PDC. I think I know who your Area Coordinator will be, but I'm not positive. I didn't want to ask too many questions and figured I'd wait for them to posted on April 2nd.

Hey! I'll still be LIVING here.. and will still come to IRDs! I still have the UP chapters too... Y'all will be fine without me.. after all, you've only had me for two years as it is. It really is going to be strange to not be in the direct chain for Zeta Alpha since I've been directly involved with them since my Initiation in 1984. But, I think change is good. Time to learn new chapters and new faces. BTW, check your email. I need something from you!

Dee

I believe our PDC just took over in the fall (only a month or two before I became CA) - that's probably why you might not know her yet. I know she was the CA at Alpha Lambda/Ohio State. She and I are roughly the same age, so I'm assuming that its probably her first VST position? (She's great though - even if she doesn't end up covering our area, I hope she still ends up on the VST somewhere.)

Speaking of Michigan/Ohio people on the VST - is Therese still on the VST? She was our Chapter Advisor while I was on EC...many years ago. We didn't have a whole lot of advisors back then - she and Diana (our Finance Advisor, who had the position forever) are the only 2 that I can recall from my undergrad days. At one point, we had a bunch of younger alumnae come back to be advisors, but that only lasted a semester or so.

Yes, Therese is currently the Recruitment Consultant for Great Lakes 2 (Ontario, Buffalo and the three southern Michigan chapters)! She spent a long time on the Collegiate Programming team. She was also the CA at Alpha Pi when I first became a CA. She is one of the many VST in Michigan that I think of as the "Leslie" VST, because Leslie W. was so dedicated and inspirational to us that we wanted to stay involved. She was our PDC when I was a new member/collegian and then was the PDC when I was first a CA at Zeta Alpha. She was probably an "Area Supervisor" or the DCO when you were at Chi. I remember thinking "I want to be a Leslie someday".

I remember your FA too, because Chi was under me when I was on the Finance Team and working with 13-South (before the changes in Provinces in '97). It was one of the chapters I never had to worry about then because the FA had been in place so long she had the finance reporting down to a science.

I remember the Leslie W. days! I graduated from ZN in '93 and because CA in '96. I actually "blame" Susan E-P for dragging me into the CA business. And here I am... 11 years later. 9 years are CA, 1.5 as a SDC and my sanity is just starting to return!

I think VLC is a great idea and can't wait to see everyone there.

You know, now that I think about it - there is another CA that I remember (Michelle G). Now that I think about it, I'm trying to remember if Therese was our CA before becoming PDC, or if I'm remembering her only as PDC and Michelle was the CA? I was elected to my first term on EC as a freshman, so I was still learning what all the roles were and who was who! I know that Therese was very involved with our chapter and remember meeting her multiple times, so I was thinking at first she was an advisor then jumped up to PD? (The memory gets foggy over the years!)

Our FA was a very dedicated lady - she was also very involved with our House Corp. We had another woman (Janet E) on our House Corp who was very involved - she'd show up to plant flowers, etc. We didn't have a whole lot of alumnae support (meaning a variety of different individuals involved), but the ladies who were there did a lot to try to help us!

I always thought that I would have had more constant involvement since graduating. (I did participate a little - a semester as an advisor, which I had to give up b/c the following school year I became housemother while taking some grad classes. Then I started off as secretary for our alumnae group, but then I ended up moving to Ohio.) But I always thought I would be one of the "super involved" people too - the "Leslie W" type person you're mentioning, I suppose. (I am fairly certain that she was either our Area Supervisor or involved somehow with Chi while I was on EC - the name sounds very familiar. If I'm thinking of the same person, she'd be Leslie R.W., correct?)

I think that it was so heartbreaking/emotionally draining for many of us when Chi closed, that I needed to take a breather from holding an office or a leadership role. (Especially since I became pregnant with my first child right around that same time - and then became pregnant with my second child while the first was only 5 months old. Had my hands full for awhile. )

But, now they are 3 and 2, and its much easier now to add in some Alpha Gam responsibilities than it was while trying to juggle 2 infants. Actually, they love going over to the chapter house with me - at Christmas time, they made cut out ornaments from dough with the girls (while I reviewed and signed some reports), etc. Its fun for them to get a bunch of attention from the girls when we drop by.

(At least I'm only 33 - I still have time to try to squeeze in a few of the Honors despite having had a break in service earlier )

Well I posted this in the wrong thread and had to delete it , lol.

Our Rec. Consultant (Kalina) is moving to Dallas to work for Channel 4. Bummer but I know she's looking forward to it.

Hope to see her in SA next summer if I get to go.

Susan: Therese was living in East Lansing and working at MSU for a time period and I know she had a special role with Chi but I don't know exactly what it was. I was on Finance then and had a limited view of the whole operations for chapters. And yes, it was Leslie R. W.

Lynn: I love Kalina! I spent half the Foundation Reception at the last Convention talking to her. I wish I had half her energy! She was hilarious when she was on the Courtesy Resolutions Committee for the Centennial Convention too.

Kalina is great...we traipsed all over downtown Chicago together looking for supplies for the Recruitment Resource Room. I'll never forget the afternoon we almost died in a cab with the CRAZIEST driver I've ever seen (and I hail from NYC, I know me some crazy cab drivers). Kalina and I each had one hand holding each other and the other hand covering our eyes!

I think it is kind of random Hawaii, Idaho and Montana are together, and even though Wazzu is ten minutes away, they are in A2, and we're A3.

If you're coming to Wazzu or to see us at Idaho, give a holler and I'll take you to the awesome restaurant that has huckleberry zuchinni bread or maybe even pick you up at the airport in Spokane. Two of the Leadership Consultants have already had the exciting experience of riding in my car through the country side passing wheatfield after wheatfield.

After taking a closer look at the breakdown of how the Ohio groups are split up, I have a feeling who our province director will be. Just a hunch based on geography, since Ohio now seems to be split into Northern (Cleveland/Toledo) and Southern (from Columbus south) parts. Guess I will find out for sure in a few days. The assignments will be posted on the website on April 2nd, correct?

I think that this will be a very positive change and am excited about it, but I'll still be a little sad at the same time - you get to know certain individuals through your time working with them, and now you're likely to have at least some of the individuals change. (I know, I know...change is a good thing, and its an opportunity to build relationships with new sisters. But if you have to give someone up that you've enjoyed working with, its still a little sad too. )
