"I don't like new people" so I don't go out of my way to speak to anyone other than sorors. If another D9 member randomly speaks to me, I would probably just say "Hi" and keep moving. If it is a good day I might ask them where they pledged just to see if we know any of the same people. Other than that they are just another stranger who happens to be in a D9 org. ~shrugs~

Of course. With hundreds of thousands of women with different personalities, it's inevitable. The longer you're in your organization, the more you will encounter such folks and the more you'll be one of those folks on occasion.
I've had some women be superstank to the point where I had to really figure out what the problem was but for the most part I just chalk it up to life. I know there are times when I don't feel like being bothered or am in a hurry. I don't wear letters often and go to the same places all the time, so for the most part I only run into Sorors who I already know and get along with. But I don't wear letters or purposefully go around Deltas if I don't feel like being bothered with speaking.

For me, never. We tend to be so few and far between that it has been my experience that I've never had a negative encounter with one of my sorors. It has ususally been along the lines of them being inactive, they see me in letters, and they ask me about reactivation, so the experience has been positive.
The only times that I am out and about in letters are when I've just left chapter meeting and had to run some errands, or during Christmas time out shopping when I wear my SGR sweaters.
But, I've had both good and bad experiences with other D9s. I've had a 'sisterfriend' or two throw her nose up in the air when I speak to her, so I just let it go. Usually the guys are more receptive.

That's crazy for someone to diss you just because you aren't in the same D9 organization. I speak because it's polite. Now, I was with two of my best friends, one a Delta and the other a Zeta, and we were in the mall. We had on our 'nalia, and these AKA neos looked at me like "What are you doing with the enemy." I asked them a "question" and they looked confused, so I ignored them anyway. However, I think it's juvenile to expect people to only talk to members of their own organizations.

Yeah, ditto. The only negative encounter I have had with a Soror is the one Soror in the DC area who I was blowing my horn at.
As for other D9 orgs I get this from one sorority in particular. I was in Staples just this Friday and this lady about my age was mugging me really hard in line. She looked at my key chain twice. I ignored it and made light conversation with her anyway about the prices, etc. and left. I made a note to look at her car when I left the store and sure enough she had the tag of that sorority. Not all of my encounters are that way with this sorority. I have actually made some friends and had pleasant encounters with co-workers etc. As for the men -- they usually flirt!

WOW.

That's the same response I got.

I've never had a problem with my own fraternity. When I do see my fraternity brothers, they always give me information on things they are doing and always invite me to come. I do the same to them.
The only problem I ever had with anyone in the D9 was the recent one I mentioned. I like to tease Deltas. I saw a Delta at the movies a couple of weeks ago. I told her I like her Nupie colors. She laughed and said " I see this Delta got your attention, and you weren't just looking at my colors Mr. Kappa Man." I laughed.

One of my best friends is an Alpha. He also happens to be a police officer. Whenever I am in town (He lives in the town where my family is from) and he sees my car, he will get on the Police Cruiser's mega phone and scream out, "0000-6!" The whole neighborhood is like ? I just laugh it off and throw him the YO! We tease each other all the time. I tell him all the time, "just because you're the oldest...don't make you the coldest!"

That reminds me of my dad. He's an Alpha and teases my brother and I about being Nupes. We were watching National Geographic on TV and there were these lions chasing these wildebeasts and he laughed and said look at those Alphas chasings those Kappas. I said "Corny joke dad." I'm going back home for the holidays and I gotta hear it all over again.

They don't get it...just tell him Gorillas belong in the Mist! My uncle is a Que and we battle every holiday. I refer to him as "Old Yellar" and remind him of what happens in the end.

Hahh Haaa... Skating is just... Wrong...
Hayle, we had to stop when I pledged as an ivy for just about EVERYBODY who had their letters... Most DEFINITELY for Phrat... That just would not be tolerated if we failed to greet them properly...

I was reared by just about everyone in a D9 organization... So, I am obliged to speak to them on general principle.
I think it has something to do with geographic location. Where I reside, there are not that many of US. That means that there are even less of US in the D9. So if we see ANYONE in the D9, it would be prudent to say "hello", at least.
Hayle, I am getting spoken to by other greeks in the IFC, NPC and NIC... I work with this lady for the Komen Race for the Cure who is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She's in her 60's... It's awesome.
So, we need each other in order to survive.
Within unity, there is strength...
