I can't believe you are naming names here. DISCRETION IS THE KEY! Shop owners do talk, you know.

OMG!! You guys are SUCH good luck! I just had a phone call & guess what! I can save money by switching my insurance! Wow!! This is almost the best day of my life - just knowing this has made me feel really good about my potential as a hair transplant candidate. I mean with such good things going on, I just KNOW that Acme or Leroy's will want me! Because I was feeling so good after that call, I decided to go ahead & call Crazy Larry's Hair-Fare... they were not there so I had to leave a message. I just know with the message I left they will definitely want to take me! I made sure & told them that this was my dream & that I could definitely see myself fitting in with their clients. I also told them that I simply adored the cute guy in the ad campaign with no hair! I think he is the cutest! My cousin Hickey said that if I didn't get a call back soon, he could drive up there & have a chat with them. He said he'd bring his friend... Smith Wesson or something like that. See what a great guy he is? He wants to help me so much that he's going to bring a friend to talk with them about me.
Keep your fingers crossed for me!!

OMG, AlphaFrog - that is SUCH a good idea!! Then maybe adpiucf can create a sort of "master" list for all the salons that offer the service. She says that she has no experience with the process, but I think she would be a great person to make a list for people like me. I just wonder how many others are out there searching with no help like I am. I am having to do this all on my own - from shopping salons on the net, to contacting clients personally to get a recommendation for their salon. Then I have to call the salon directly - it is just such a let down when they hang up on me or tell me that they aren't looking for new clients.
Sister Havana - you say that shop owners talk, but don't you think that we all should have access to their records? That way we can seek out past clients & find someone to help us get "ahead" in the process. I don't think you should be so negative to me about my dream - I would love to call your salon & I'll tell them that you referred me!
And OMG - eyebrow waxing & hair transplants have a lot in common you know! They are both dealing with hair... specifically "moving" hair. And they are both on your head. I don't see why the process would be much different other from each other. adpiucf - don't you listen to the haters!

You all are hilarious!!!
ETA: This post may appear insensitive to those who have or seek hair transplants. I am not laughing at those people but rather laughing at the thought of someone inquiring about hair transplants so openly when they could seek guidance elsewhere. All in all, there are pros and cons to hair transplants and it is ultimately the discretion of the salon if they 1) offer transplants in the first place and 2) will grant a transplant to a particular person. Viva la wave de la future!!!

No, I don't think you should have access to the hair salons' records. How they select clients is their business - only employees and clients of that salon need to know that. Now, if a client or an employee comes to you and offers to get you an appointment, that's different and I have no problem with that. I don't think any of us on this board do. That's the way it should be.
Don't you know anyone in your family or community that's had hair transplants? They'd be better resources than random people on the internet.

I got my hair transplants from JimBob and he only transplants hair to women with many, many years of hair care experience, so since you've never even kept a wig, you don't qualify for JimBob.
That said, OMG I TOTALLY HOPE ACME TAKES YOU GOOD LUCK!!!!!

So you won't give me a recommendation for a salon? I figured that you of all people would understand my situation. I have always wanted to know how they select their clients, and I think I have a right to know. I am disappointed that you think this should be kept private. There are a lot of people out there seeking this & they should know the selection process for hair transplants.
No - I would be the first in my family to get a hair transplant, but my cousin Hickey did have some metal plates put in his head one time after he got into a fight at a bar. He was just going there to pick up a girl that needed a nice motel room for the night. Some guy said that she was his girlfriend, but Hickey said that never matters much. They left him pretty tore up, but he says that this makes him look tougher so that those people on the street he takes bags to at night don't want to mess with him.

Since you asked, and won't shut up until someone recommends you a salon apparently, I'll bite.

OMG - you are kidding!! JimBob's was definitely ON MY LIST!! That is too funny. I have always heard that JimBob's Hair Transplants, Bait, and Tackle shop was the absolute best. I just didn't think that I would ever be good enough for them. Would you PLEASE write me a recommendation to go to them? I would just die if I ever got a chance to be considered by JimBob's. I know you can't promise anything, but at least they would know that I had someone who was willing to refer me! I am just too freaking excited now!!

No, there are not a lot of people out there looking for hair transplants. It may seem that way because of the number of people on here that may have had them, but in the real world, hair transplants are very rare. And I would not give so much personal information about your lifestyle since it may not mesh with the other clientele of the salons. Remember, you want to make a good impression.

OMG WTF?
You don't go looking for hair transplants, the salons that do them will find you and your balding head. Why is this so hard to understand? Furthermore, you don't say that you have any personal connection with any of these salons, it's like you're looking for a hair transplant, any hair transplant from anyone who'll take you.
Every salon is different. Perhaps you can tell us some more about your experience with your hair and why you feel that a hair transplant is right for you. It's a very expensive procedure that lasts for a lifetime and I'm just not comfortable with your approach.
Hair transplantation is a very serious matter you know

Why are you being so mean to her? She's just looking for answers. I know my particular salon would not accept her as a member, but that doesn't mean I won't fight to the death to make sure that she finds one that will!! You should too. We should all not be meanie-pants, and blow as much sunshine up her ass as we can. After all, it's not my salon she's going to end up anyways.

But I know that in college, there were a lot of people who really wanted to be a client for HT salons, but for whatever reason, we couldn't. Money, the time to get the transplant, etc. I think that all women who want to fulfill their HT dreams should have the chance. I may even write a book about it to get the word out to the world. I know that given the information publicly, many people would flock to sign up. They just have to be given the chance.
As for my lifestyle - I'm not gay... not that there's anything wrong with that. I just wanted to make sure that that wouldn't be an issue for the HT salon that I am seeking that will hopefully offer me an opportunity to b a client. If you think that being gay will make a good impression, then let me know. I can call up my cousin Hickey & ask him for some people to help me out. He knows all kinds of people & I'll bet that he could find me someone to help coach me if I need it. My cousin Hickey is real proud of me - he says that someday I will be purty enough to marry. But not him, cause he's my cousin. Even though his momma & my uncle (his momma's brother & my daddy's cousin) were once caught in a scandal. But we got that quieted down real good before the family reunion.

I don't think people will think that we are being insensitive. No one should be ashamed of hair transplants - they are the WAVE of the future! I am proud that I am able to put my personal life out there to inspire others, even if it means ridicule. I think that if we got more information out there about HT (as AlphaFrog suggested) that more people would have the opportunity to shop for a salon that they like & think they would best fit in. Which is what I'm trying to explain to Sister Havana, but she isn't getting it apparently

I think you need to shut up. You have driven off other HT candidates by being horrible and including links to models with gorgeous hair in your signature, don't even pretend you didn't. Oh and what the hell was with those pictures under the link 'Alopecia Awareness'? Holy shit.
Now suddenly you're all for it because you know that no matter what, no one here is going to use your salon. Well you know what? I worked hard to gain membership to my salon, my doctor is very exclusive and you seem to think it's okay to tell people we take anyone. Bite me Alphafrog, and don't think I'm not gonna campaign against your Hair Transplant Forum. That's a horrible idea.
GC is a skewed statistical example of a demographic that have long had their HTs and it will just make it look so easy when it's not.
