BlACKROSE,
It would be one thing if you did have a "few major and minor misspelling or grammar issues", but the fact is that there are so many, it makes your posts almost unreadable. This may be just a "chat line", but if you read a post or six, you'll see that the majority of posters take the time, AND ARE RESPECTFUL ENOUGH, to follow basic grammar and spelling rules. Now, I am a horrible speller myself, and you can tell which posts that I don't take the time to spellcheck (which now that GC has a spellchecker, aren't very many0 - but that's the point...I take the time to use the spellchecker...it's courteous to other posters.

Blackrose, here is another post from you in the "Events" area of Greekchat. Obviously you are advertising a philanthropy event sponsored by your chapter. That's a great idea! But since this post is for an event representing your sorority, why wouldn't you check the spelling, grammar, etc. so that you can present your sisters to the world as the educated mothers they are?

You don't need to be starting a sorority/campus organization. Any local founder you speak to will tell you it takes a ton of work, effort and more work over years, some disappointment, a lot of late nights, and yes, more work. Doesn't quite sound like that is what you are looking for. Get involved with another established activity on campus.

I agree, Have you looked into becoming an Alumnae Initiate? I founded my chapter while married and I had to make a ton of sacrificies when it came to spending time with my hubby or recruitment events.
In the end it took a huge toll on my relationship, but we worked past it. However, if asked to do it again? I would hire an assistant! Another one of my founding sisters was married as well and we tried to reach out to the "non-traditional" students. Most just did not have the time to dedicate themselves to a starting organization.
Just something to consider.
*Also just because you cant be "active" you can still be a valuble asset as an Alumnae initiate and still participate in all the fun stuff.

I am wondering how long it will be before some of these women band together and form Alpha Iota, the first virtual sorority for any and all who are interested, whatever there age, collegiate status, or sanity level.

NO YOU CAN'T.
AIS DO NOT GO TO MIXERS.
AIS DO NOT BUILD HOMECOMING FLOATS.
AIS DO NOT LIVE IN THE SORORITY HOUSE.
AIS DO NOT ATTEND CHAPTER MEETINGS.
AIS DO NOT ATTEND PHILANTHROPY EVENTS.
AIS DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN GREEK WEEK ACTIVITIES.
Not that there aren't fun things that ALUMNAE chapters do....but if these are the main things you want to do, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT AI.

Maybe she was asking the OP to consider her sorority, DZO, for AI.

You're talking about being "respectful"??? Oh, the irony!
And regarding spelling errors... posters who point them out are attempting to feel better about themselves by belittling others. Alpha Frog, why don't you concentrate on trying to form an intelligent response to the poster, rather than trying pedantry?

Seriously, pedantry? Is that the word of the day? Were you attempting to use it in a sentance?
