Good luck on your pursuit.

No problem, but to be respectful of the members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, I would seriously take heed to what was mentioned in the post above me.

Hold on, Hold on. I am curious here. Why cant a person ask basic questions on this forum? Isnt that its purpose? He isnt asking about rituals or grips or anything. This future aspirant is merely seeking how he can best field himself in MY organization. I have no problem with that. If we tell him to shu away and dont bother us. He will go away and we may miss a blessing of having what might be a good and productive brother.
I have been out of college for over 10 years and I am a professional so maybe I am outof touch, but I would think if we want positve good brothers we need to mentor them and grow them. Isnt one of our main goals to be leaders in our schools and communities and guide others in the right dierection? WHy jump onthis fellow for asking a question about how he can make himself more marketable? Thats should be our aim to build ALpha men. WHat exactly are these forums for? Just a social place or something or is it to inform and educate from informed and educated people.

And you know what, as a member of the D9 who is part of the next greek organization that will be celebrating its centennial, I find your username personally and extrememly offensive. Because my father, the Far Western Regional Director of Life Membership for this wonderful Fraternity, fought long and hard for his gains in his life. And he attended his centennial celebration with my mother who is one of my sorority sisters... I am just getting angrier as I type, so I will stop.

As a long time member of the D9 and the first BGLO, I find your screenname flattering and motivational

But she's not a member of the D9 either. And at least the other two are members of a GLO.

I can only speak for Delta. But to discuss anything related to Intake at this stage of the game with a prospect period, much less on a public board could lead to disciplinary action.
BTW, what does you being a professional have to do with being out of touch with Alpha? Are you saying you no longer have time for your frat? Serious question, because I have been out of college much longer than you, I am a professional, and I am very much IN touch with Delta.

No ma'am, you misunderstood. I am very much in touch with Alpha. I didnt say that becuse I am in the professional world I am out of touch with Alpha. I said that because I have been away from college maybe attitudes have changed. The original poster didnt ask anything the intake process. He asked about getinghis GPA up. I would tell any student to definantly get their grades up and try to atainthe highest they can get. Thats all I got from his question.
I am very serious about the development of all young people doing something positive withtheir lives. If I can be of any help I tryto make myself availiable

Yet the advice that was given directed him back to the chapter and didn't stone him for the question that was asked. There is a way to politely answer a question - everyone doesn't need a beating when asking a generalized question.

That's the exact same thing that I suggested he do btw.
Re: pilot06, reading the link above, at least the moderator of this forum would prefer that questions NOT be asked publicly. This is a policy in the NPHC forums and as such, I recommended that he follow it. When he decided my advice didn't count, well... lets just say I think its funny that he got the same answer again and again.

If you notice in my response I didn't say anything about process I referenced Intake in general. This means discussing eligibility requirements and we would direct the prospect to our national website.
Also he started talking about being ignored, then asked about how would his GPA be perceived. No one on this board could answer for that chapter unless they are a member of that chapter. And surely they wouldn't respond on a public message board.
Lastly, if he has to be told on a message board to get his grades up and get the highest he could attain, then that's a whole 'nother issue.

Who was given him beating? He discounted the same advice you gave and he thanked you for, because the posters weren't D9. (They were obviously NPC.) Yet you aren't D9 either nor in another GLO. Now to me that speaks to assumptions and bad ones at that.
Then 06 comes on and encourages him to ask such questions and compliments him on is name. The experienced MB posters on here know that his question and his name would get him flamed elsewhere.

I guess its all in tone and how he read their information that's all...People can say the same thing in different ways which can be received differently...

I would still like you to notice that no Alphas with any standing around here (aka more then 50 posts) have yet responded. That should speak of the appropriateness of the question.
