Somethings I've noticed
There are two things that I have noticed on this board...
One... Recruitment Story people are not coming back to us what sorority was what... very sad... because they tell us great stories but then we don't know what group was what.
BUT I understand if the girls didn't get into a group... just in case someone has figured them out... but if you get into a group... please tell us what group is what code name.
TWO... if you are getting Recs for sororities... get as many as possible for each group because in some groups the more you have the more points you get... just a thought!

Personally it doesn't bother me if the girls chose not to say that Pink was ABC, and Blue was DE and Purple was XYZ. Does it really matter? If they ended up with a house they are excitied to be in, I thought that is what all of the recruitment threads were about?
Is someone really going to take the time to read each and every day of recruitment again to see what she thought of the sororities now that the world knows who the code names were for? I guess I don't have as much free time as everyone else
Plus, I think (just imho) that it's probably better if they didn't go back and say who was who - mainly because if she didn't like a particular house during recruitment, for her to come back and say, "By the way, the house I cut because their girl couldn't carry a conversation was BLUE which was ABC" might offend people if it's their GLO and/or home chapter.
And I didn't know you get extra points if you have more than 1 rec per house.. I must have missed that when I was doing recruitment on the sister-side

There was that one situation on GC a couple of years back where the things the PNM said online came back to bite her in the ass even after she received a bid into a house.
IIRC, the sisters in her new house read her feelings about that house during rush after they extended her a bid. What she wrote wasn't horrible, but I could see how it would rub off the wrong way. Needless to say, she was alienated by the majority of the sisters in that house and eventually depledged. All because of what she wrote on GC.
I'm all for honesty and openness when done right (like Curly the UF KKG's rush thread), but I don't blame PNMs for not revealing the keys to their code.

As much as I would like to know sometimes, wouldn't revealing the codes, defeat the purpose of the codes?
I know that I would love to see what someone thought of Theta, (hopefully good things!) but not at the risk of a new member being thought of negatively. You KNOW someone will be offended, even if the comment doesn't seem that bad.

if someone wants to reveal the codes then great, but truthfully, it isn't a big deal to me. especially for the recruitments with a zillion houses, i also don't have time to re-read everything.
i have to agree with the last few posts that it is probably in the best interest of the pnm/ new member to just not tell.

First of all... it wouldn't be rereading for me because I don't read the post the first time (which other people on here have commented about). I like to know who each group is... pink blue or yellow. Also, I was not blaming them for not posting... I just noticed this year that no one is going back to post who was who.
OTW... I wasn't aware that a member had had an issue. That is really sad that a chapter wouldn't see this for what it is...
And to be honest... the "stories" are so filled with fluff these days that most of the time I really don't think that it would hurt to reveal.
Texas-Princess... I really don't feel that your bite is needed... I could just be tired but that really isn't needed... I was just pointing out that in some chapters... maybe not yours... that having more than one rec isn't going to hurt you and could very much help you. Isn't that the point of recs... and I was just giving advice to all the young ladies that are gearing up for their recruitment next year and starting to wonder about this REC thing. That if they know four SK that they should ask all 4 of them for a REC and if they only know 1 AOP then they might want to seek out more.

Thinking back over rush when I went through...there were things about chapters I didn't like during rush BUT as I attended school with the ladies in the other houses, served on Panhellenic, etc., I developed some great friendships with them and developed a liking for each chapter on campus. I am so glad I was able to branch out and really meet a lot of great people!!
