Yeah I talked to the pharmacy manager at work today, he had lasik done, and he has to get touch-ups done occasionally. He sees halos at night time.

I had LASIK vision correction done a few months ago. For the first couple of weeks, my eyes felt very dry and I was constantly putting drops in them. Some days my vision would be better than other days (but never anywhere near as bad as it was before the procedure) After two months, though, my eyes are just about healed and I have 20/15 vision in both eyes.

Oh, and I bought myself a really nice pair of Chanel sunglassesbecause I'd never owned a truly cool pair of shades before so why not start up at the top?

20/15!

Well, I did it! I got the Lasik surgery done on Saturday, and had my followup yesterday! Life without the lenses is awesome!

What an amazing difference!

My roommate just had the alternative to Lasik done (PRK? PKT? anyone?) He's a Marine, and had it done through them - apparently it's more permanent/trauma resistant than Lasik, but it's also more expensive and more painful.

He explained it as basically having the extra layers buffed off the cornea, vs. Lasik, which cuts the layers with a laser. His doctor explained that the resulting scar tissue from Lasik can cause vision issues later (esp. in someone like him, who has a lot of years between here and old age during which his vision can change) and that the methodology involved in Lasik can cause problems if there's blunt force trauma to the eye area later. Which is why the military prefers not to use Lasik - they do kind of specialize in blunt force trauma.

At any rate, that's just info from my roommate, and he knocked a girl up, so take that with a grain of salt. I'd probably want to talk to a family friend who was an eye doctor, or go to a couple informational sessions, or something - to get more info from a reputable source.

I did hear that the burning eye smell during Lasik is both gross and alarming.
Hey Phi Mu... it's a PRK. Type of alcohol solution that dissolves the corneal layers. I had the other version with one of many types of lasers. Mine just happened to be NIDEK. They cut your cornea open with a scalpel then shoot the laser (which produces the smoke/burnt flesh smell). It wasn't painful at all because of Tetracaine drops used. This numbs the eye. My cornea was only thick enough for one attempt. If I have to have an "enhancement", I will have to have the PRK solution... which is painful. Anyone in the Nashville area... I have an awesome doctor whom I researched...

Yes, because it so clearly takes someone of questionable intelligence to knock a girl up.
