True, but that walk from St. Paul to East Bank or West Bank is horrible!

Acacia is not agriculturally based, but they did get busted for growing pot in their house at U of I while I was there. Their origins are Masonic, although that relationship is no longer official.

There is a FarmHouse (and AGR) chapter at the campus where I was a collegiate member. They were good guys, a lot of our sisters hung out/dated guys from there.

Both FarmHouse and Alpha Gamma Rho have chapters at Iowa State as well (imagine that, two Agriculture Fraternities at an Ag University, huh).

AGRs tended to get more of the Farm/Ag boys than FH, but I'd say they were each other's biggest competition in events like Homecoming and Varieties.

Yeah, and if I'm going to be at a party like that, there should be no reason for me to drive. Even if I don't drink that much, I'll smell like I raided a liquor cabinet. That's my personal risk management. But, I'll party on the St. Paul campus before I graduate. The orgs over there do pub pretty hard.

As someone who has FH, Acacia, Triangle, AGR, AGS and a local AGNu, I can vouch for who is still and who is no longer limiting in their membership.

Farmhouse is no longer agriculturally selective. I believe that their cahpter at Nebraska is widely considered their "flagship" chapter (stealing the lingo from an earlier thread). I believe that they were founded at Missouri though. They are more ag based than the other top houses at Nebraska b/c they are on East campus, which has all the ag majors and classes, but they are definitely broader in scope major wise than the other East Campus fraternities.

Acacia was never limited in their membership as far as major goes. They did have very strong Masonic ties. Supposedly William Jennings Bryan was a member of the Acacia chapter here in Lincoln, but that was more likely some aspect of a Masonic membership as according to Wiki, he didn't move to Lincoln until after attending law school.

Triangle is limited to majors in the sciences, architecture, and engineering, at least they have a strong lean that way. Yes, members are allowed to change their majors.

Alpha Gamma Rho, AFAIK, remains heavily ag based. I believe that is a national thing. On Lincoln's east campus

Alpha Gamma Sigma was ag based, and b/c of their location at Nebraska (across the street from East campus which is almost entirely ag majors) they are primarily ag, but I know they will look at any major.

Alpha Gamma Nu is the only local in the Nebraska-Lincoln Greek Community, and they've been around for over 50 years (yes 50! most people don't even know they are a local they've been around so long). They started as the AgMen house and then morphed to a fraternity. Again another East Campus house so primarily ag, but not limited by it any more as far as I know.

NIC

FYI: Acacia, Alpha Gamma Rho, Alpha Gamma Sigma, FarmHouse and Triangle are all NIC members. Have been for many years. Also, Acacia is one of the original NIC charter members.

We have both Farmhouse and AGR.

Farmhouse here is very, very small. 9 members, and 4 pledges. They have their own house, but it's shared with the chemistry department. They seem like alright guys, and are actually kind of rushing hard.

Also, Pat Green was both a Beta and Farmhouse but I'm not exactly sure how that worked out. And Django Walker was a ATO at Texas...State? I believe.

Farmhouse's Alpha chapter is at my school (they're our next door neighbors actually!) and I know for a fact that Pat Green is or was at some point a Farmhouse member (not at the Mizzou chapter). When one of their brothers died last year or the year before they had him come up here to perform a memorial concert for him and he mentioned then that he was a member.
