I got mine from CompUSA and I didn't purchase their plan. I should have although I haven't had any problems with my Zen. Fingers crossed!

Purchase the Apple Care warranty for sure. Its about $60, covers 2 years and when something happens to your Ipod, they just give you a new one. The batteries only last about a year, so for this alone, it is totally worth it.

I have a 40GB Apple iPod by Hewlett-Packard ( http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/sh...=PE436AR%23ABA). I've always wondered if there is a difference between mine and one purchased from the Apple store. I don't know if the HP factor makes a difference.
I have a question for iPod owners. I used to have my iTunes library on my work computer and, when it got too large, I decided to move everything to my personal laptop. After I downloaded iTunes on my laptop, I plugged in my iPod and I got a prompt telling me that it detected that my iPod was linked to another library and it wanted to know if I wanted to cancel that link and link it to the new library. I said yes thinking that all of the songs on my iPod would transfer to my laptop. Instead, I think it deleted everything on my iPod. Has this happened to anyone and, if so, were you able to find the songs anywhere?

I have the 4G mini and i LOVE it. I convinced my S/O to get one, and he ended up getting a discount! By visiting the Apple store and purchasing a refurbished one instead of new, he was able to get a 6G mini for the price of a 4G!
*Accessories*
Earlier this summer my car was stolen so i had to get a new stereo. I used that as an opportunity to upgrade the stereo so my ipod integrates (seamlessly and hidden) into the glove compartment. The stereo i chose has built-in ipod functionality, so i can manipulate it just as i would my disc changer or the radio stations.
I have a few friends that have the plug in FM adapter and that works just as well if you don't want to go all out and get a new car stereo.
I think no matter what ipod you get, you'll be happy! Just don't think about the new versions that seem to drop every other week

I'm thinking about getting an IPod too. I've heard a lot of great things about it.
However since I only have Internet access at work then I will HAVE to use ITunes. I work at a university so you know I can't go any other way than the legal route but I guess $.99 a song isn't very bad.

I have a confession...I use a p2p program to download music (especially old school music, I refuse to buy a CD for ONE song!) and then just add those files to my iTunes library...So then all music is on my iPod!
I have never purchased a song through iTunes, and I won't if I don't have to.
[/end confession]

I have a Nano. It's perfect for work and the gym. It holds 1,000 songs.

I own a 4G iPod mini and it holds 1000 songs, I bought it at my school bookstore so it was only $170 w/ the student discount.
They do not make minis anymore, the Nano replaced it, but I am pleased with the product that I have, the only problem is that the accessories are not included, Apple always has something up it's sleeve for you to spend more money!
So, now I have to buy a portable charger to charge my iPod when I am away from my computer, which is $30 and then I am told that I need a firewall cord to connect it to my iPod, so that is more $...I just wish everything came with it, it is entirely too expensive, but I do use mine EVERYDAY, so I am getting my money's worth.

I have a 20gb ipod.
I love it with all my heart! lol
I bought an Itrip so I play it through the radios in my house (I love the whole wireless transmission idea)
I also like Apple's Tech Support. Once you are under warranty you can walk right in the store and get a new ipod if something is wrong with the one you have ( which was useful to me!).
Like jubilance1922 i use a p2p program. Forgive me! lol but I buy music every once in a blue when I already know the album is banging before hand or I cant find it online.

How do you obtain the p2p program?
I was able to see the Nano yesterday. At the end of the day, a student had one. I stopped him. He thought I was about to reprimand him (school violation). He let me see the pod. He couldn't ask all of my questions. He only uploads his CDs to the pod.
I was thinking...how ironic.

<crash> Please pardon me.
I own both an iPod Shuffle and a Zen Xtra, and I like both of them. The Zen is 30GB, and that's A LOT of music...it's good for long road trips, which is the main purpose I use it.
The Shuffle I just stuff into my purse and use for short distances. It's little, it's cute and it works.
The Zen I got for Christmas last year. The Shuffle I bought myself on impulse.

Also another good thing with Apple is that they have a Student and Teacher discount on all their products event the warranties. Inquire about that.

Thank you all so much!
I purchased the Creative Zen Sleek 20 GB (yes, on sale...no shipping from amazon). After researching accessories from various sites, I found a pink skin for it. I should be receiving them in a few days. I'm too giddy!
I also turned my sister on to the Zen. I'll see which one they choose for my niece.
