Some of them turn out to be very dedicated volunteers - I can say that from direct experience!
But, IHQ pretty much unofficially "blacklists" these kind of alumni for a time, until their dedication is reproven, which is sad. Most young alums that come from a shutdown chapter had nothing to do with the reasons the chapter was shut down (I for instance, was on Active Duty in the Navy, when circumstances arose that shut down my "home" chapter), they are true PPG bleeders for the most part, and they are out there, usually serving a nearby chapter.
When my chapter was shut down, there were six to seven alums that remained in the area, and we all dedicated much time, effort, and personal resources to a nearby chapter - especially during Ritual Week - it was sort of a "homecoming/reunion" event for many of us. And we wouldn't have had it any other way. Unfortunately, all but two of us have since moved away for career issues, but we still maintain close ties, and we did manage to (finally) recharter our home chapter, though I also consider myself a member of the other chapter I volunteered for as well - I got just as much out of the other chapter, more perhaps - than from my undergraduate days in LXA.
