I prefer the deep satisfaction of knowing someone really well. Of sitting on the couch together and cracking up at commercials together, of having inside jokes and a private special language all your own.
The thrill of the new is vastly overrated. In my eyes, being in a long relationship is much better. You know each other for better and for worse. There is no more "auditioning" for the next date.

I think it comes down to the person.
It seems that those that like stability and their comfort zones don't like dating that much. The comfort of having that relationship and relying on their SO.
I like new things, I like being alone most of the time, and the thrill of...for lack of a better word, conquest.

I just thought I would add something to what I posted earlier....
I like the newness and excitement and meeting new people "NOW". At some point, I know for certain that I will want something more than that. Actually, if I found "the One" tomorrow I would be more than happy and ready to settle down and have that love and comfort.... But until that time comes I am going to live it up and enjoy every minute of being single.
I figure even if I get married after 30, that could still (God willing) give me 40 to 50 years of marriage and comfort.... And say I started dating around 15, that is only 15 years of single crazy fun.
So yes, considering what I expect to be the relatively short time that I could be single in my life, I am enjoying it while I have it.
Of course, I will probably feel much differently about it if I happen to be 40 and STILL single. No point in thinking about that now though.

I think it was "The only thing better than ***** is new *****". And I THINK it was Chris Rock who said it. I could be wrong, but he says a lot of funny isht like that in his stand-up.

I think that's a great way to put it.
I, personally, whine when I don't have a boyfriend and whine when I do. Well, not really "whine" so much as freak out, find tons of little things wrong with him, and grow more distant until he finally dumps me.

I have decided to change my answer. Dating can be fun with it's with the right person. I just decided not to pursue a relationship with a guy who seems to like a lot of drama in his life. maybe because I'm not a big fan of drama. So I think it depends on the situation is all.
