What cost would there be? There are free softwares that will convert word docs to pdf format and thats really all you would need. If they can put up the stories in word docs that means that they have the space on their servers to store them and pdf versions wouldnt take up that much more room.
I dont mean to be harsh but I did website design for a non-profit organization for 9 months after college so we had to watch costs pretty closely and I can honestly say putting pdfs on a website has barely any costs attached to it.
