I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area and I have always liked both the White Sox and the Cubs. My mom grew up on the south side and my dad grew up on the north side, so I just got the best of both worlds. When they play eachother, in the Windy City Classic, I cheer for the Cubs, but other then that I will root for both teams.
As Ozzie said it best the other day, "The name of the team is CHICAGO White Sox, not the South side of Chicago White Sox. That means we are representing the WHOLE town!!"
While I can understand the rivalry during regular season (my husband is a White Sox fan and he always says his two favorite teams are the White Sox and anyone that is playing the Cubs) I don't understand why we all can't root for a Chicago baseball team when they go to the playoffs and proabably never will, now matter how many excuses I get from either side!!

So true. I think most Cubs fans (including myself) are happy for the Sox. I did hear one yahoo on the radio yesterday who was insisting that anyone who was happy for the Sox wasn't a true Cubs fan. Whatev. When they play each other, I cheer for the Cubs. Other than that, I always cheer for the Chicago team. It's called loving your city and supporting its teams.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that my husband, a freak who was born in Rogers Park yet is a Sox fan, takes me to Comisky several times a year. I've definitely developed an appreciation for the Sox.
