Yes, Lori was initiated at a convention - I'm thinking Palm Desert about 4 conventions ago. Also, I believe the Jackie is not an initiated member and the man who replaced Amy at the beginning of the year obviously isn't. She also isn't the first women of another NPC group to work for us - although I will say that they are in the minority of HQ hires. I don't know that any of the financial peopel (Tori and Stephanie) are AXiD's either.

Many of the women that have worked at HQ in the past 10 years or so have been ELC's. Previously, we have anwhere from 6-10. Four years ago that number changed. We had 2 for two years, 3 last year and now 4 this year (each one assigned to a specific territory). So our pool shrunk. Two of our current AED's worked in other positions as HQ prior to that and both were also ELC's. At one point almost everyone that worked at HQ that is an AXiD was a former ELC. So, you can see we really try to hire from "within" and we definately promote from within when able.

Also, 33girl is correct in saying that she will be the staff liasion for the National Ritual Chair - not the actual National Ritual Chair. I seriously doubt she will be able to access any true ritual information. It is more that she will work with them as some of the others work with other National Volunteers. I am Recruitment Director for the Midwest and I will have someone that I directly work with at HQ (when they fill the position). It is to provide consistance for the National Volunteers.

We are also short b/c Gretchen Knight moved positions as well and is now the head Recruitment contact at HQ in addition to (I believe) extension stuff.

As a volunteer, I'm not concerned about this. Of course if I was working with her, I'd be picking her brain for things that PiPhi does - we can all learn from each other.

I have to agree that having non-whatever group members on staff is great. At AOII we have a Zeta for our controller and an AXiD as head of our Foundation - and both are simply FABULOUS to work with! It does give a different perspective on things.

Also realize that a non-whatever group member would not be hired for a position that would get into the secrets of an organization - that is thought out when the job requirements are put together.

Sorry to crash but AOII's Foundation Director is an Alpha Xi Delta alumna. We also have a Kappa Kappa Gamma and a Zeta Tau Alpha who work for our international headquarters

There was a GC thread about non-members seeing the ritual and ritual paraphernalia.....some people were shocked! simply shocked! at the mere suggestion that the Manual of Mystics would be even seen by the guy working the printing press, that a seamstress who'd never been near a college campus would touch the very cord of that ritual robe, or a worker would glue the "Shield of the Badge" to the "Lantern That Guides Us."

Guess what, folks? Somebody prints the ritual. Somebody stitches the robes and the stoles and the tablecloths. Somebody assembles the emblem that all the initiates put their hands on when they take that vow. And those somebodies most likely aren't members of your GLO or anyone else's.

If your new MSC is the staff liaison to the ritual coordinator she may see the ritual, but dollars to doughnuts the secret-est stuff isn't printed in it. A fellow Greek is probably more respectful of your proceedings than a non-Greek.

Cheers!

Nah, but those live squirrels running around the room are hard to control.

And yes, there is also a thread on the silliness of what could possibly go on in each org's secret world.
