speaking of michaels, they have loads of die cut shapes on card stock in lots of different colors that could be used for nametags. i wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have anchors!!

spirit awards-

helping hands award(sounds like the whole chapter should get this, as you said that everyone is going above and beyond)-maybe some $$ could be alloted to a pizza party or something that everyone could enjoy.

i love dg award

super sister award

above and beyond award

loudest singer

loudest clapper

most enthusiastic recruiter

most dg knowledge award

you all have pulled together under difficult circumstances and i know that your sisterhood and cohesiveness will shine thru!! you should all be so proud!!

First of all, congratulations on being the president of a chapter that has truly embraced the spirit of sisterhood!!!

Second, for your nametags, ask your day chairs for their ideas. They are really close to the source-- your themes for those days-- so they may be bursting with ideas. Pull the artistic types aside and assign them to craft duty-- buying the supplies, assembling name tags and writing the names on the nametags. Your national consultant will be a great resource for nametag ideas, too, as she's been through these events with chapters from all over the country.

Some ideas:
Purchase foam board shapes (like an anchor), adhere the pin on the back, line the edges in glitter and write the member's name in the center.

A heart or a star lined in glitter, member's name written in the center (The heart symbolizes the "Heart of Delta Gamma" or you could wear stars "Because we're ALL stars."

Why not have circular name tags with a glittery one-color ink beach/water stamp in the center--- to stand for Anchor Splash? (the stamp will stand out better if you use something like oaktag or cardstock)

Do you do skits or videos? What is your theme? Music notes, baseballs, etc... Go with a simple shape, write cleanly on it--- the best name tags are the simple ones with just a little bit of flair. The more details, the more cluttered it will get-- frustrating the people making them and scaring the person wearing them!

Third, for your Spirit Chair-- wonderful idea! Go online or ask your Greek Adviser for recommendations for good Ice Breaker Games. Some include:

1) Group Massage! Sit in a circle and give the person in front of you a neck and shoulder rub.
2) M&M's game. Assign a "value" to each of the colors of an M&M bag (IE: red: say something nice about the person to your right, green: tell us why it's great to be a Delta-G, etc.) Split into groups.
3) Hannah Doll Pass. Sit in a circle and starting with the president, say something about how the chapter, this week or the sorority have influenced you for the better and how DG has shaped you as a person. Pass the Hannah and let everyone have a say. This can be very emotional and touching! You'll be crying and laughing together.
4) Assign Secret Pals to leave each other inspirational notes and treats. Reveal before Pref night.
5) Have a picnic on your lawn. Theme it: Twin Day! Pick a "twin" and dress alike!
And more!

Awards to hand out...
Make it very silly! Dollar Store prizes like water guns, jacks, a hairbrush, etc... Or you can turn it into Paper Plate Awards-- write the award on a paper plate!
1) Most Likely to Get Paint on the Floor
2) Most Likely to be Brushing Her Hair
3) Most Likely to be Found at the (name of fraternity) House during Work Week!
4) I Would Walk 500 Miles... (Sister who has gone above and Beyond!)
5) "QUOTE" (something someone has said all week that is starting to repeat itself in your sleep because she won't stop saying it!)
6) Heart of Gold Award (a really sweet sister)
etc.

Hope these ideas have helped, and again, congratulations on having such a wonderful chapter!

One chapter on my campus used to make name tags in the shape of puzzle pieces. They painted them different colors and made them different shapes to signify that everyone was different, but they all "fit together" as sisters. I thought it was so cute when I went through rush, but I don't know if they still do it or not. Something like that, though, would be ok for several different people to make them--or even for each person to make one for herself--because they are supposed to look different.

We got cut out shapes of cats in blue foam (our mascot is the siamese cat) and then got little pieces of brown suede and cut the suede into "fringe" and affixed them to the cats like a hula skirt. Then we put little floral beads around the necks of the cats like leighs and wrote our names on them. Straight pin, and voila. Foam shapes solve everything.

for PNMS, we made a "flip flop" template that looked like a pair of flip flops out of foam. Then we used two strips to make the straps, and a floral bead for the part that goes between the toes. Then we wrote girls names on each shoe, and then used straight pins to pin them on. I still have mine from our party when I rushed!!!

I wanted to update everyone sooner, but we all know how recruitment week is. First off, thanks to everyone for their advice and supportive thoughts...I really appreciated it. We have done an awesome job this week...better than any recruitment we have ever had. We finished up skit night last night and we have pref tonight. Everyone has told us that we have been the most organized and most informative...which i think is a huge compliment!! Bid Day is friday...wish us luck (but secretly I think we've already been lucky to have such fab chapter members)

thanks again..ill update after bids!!!!

Congratulations to your chapter!

Amazing. So glad to hear a positive story of sisters really pulling together to welcome new women into Greek Life. I can't wait to hear about Pref and Bid Day-I have a feeling they are going to be impressive.
