Actually the Rangers where here at UofT this summer for their training camp - so you'd be running into them at the gym... or more often at the pubs across the street from the field

As for the soft "C" that people use for Celtic... it really makes them sound kinda dumb... the "C" is pronounced hard like a "K" in Scots Gaelic and Irish, not to mention the fact that even the Romans (Latin has no soft "C" either) and Greeks had the hard "K" sound for the Celts 2500 years ago.
I have a Rangers banner on my Soccer Wall of Fame. I've known two schoolboy apprentices from them (who obviously went pro), and learned more about soccer from the two of them than anyone else. And yes, that would include a pub crawl or two!

I once used the hard "C" for the Boston Celtics, and you would have thought I used the **** word!! Some traditions die hard...

MLB: New York Yankees (my favorite sports team - been a diehard fan for as long as I can remember)
NFL: New York Giants
NCAA: UConn, especially the basketball team (except hockey, where I'm a Boston U. fan)
NBA: Knicks, although I don't watch as much as I used to
NHL: I used to be a Hartford Whalers fan, but since they moved I haven't really followed any one team in particular. I follow the sport as a whole, though.

Ok, regarding this Celtic/Rangers deal:

So, growing up, my understanding that the biggest reason Celtic and Rangers hate each other is because Celtic is Catholic and Rangers is protestant. Even though I liked Rangers more, since I was Catholic, I was confused about whether or not that's wrong.

NOw that I'm a non-denom Christian, I guess it's chill that I support them.

I love all those times Celtic BARELY has a lead in the points, and in the last few weeks Rangers comes up and gets them.

Also, do you think they should go to the EPL? I think so just because they're not getting any better playing the rest of the Scottish league. Hearts, Dunfermline and Dundee United defnitely are not New Castle, Everton and Tottenham Hotspurs.

Shoulda took that chance....

I think the arguement for not going to the EPL was while it would have meant a decidedly more competative enviroment for the Celtic and Rangers it would have gutted the Scottish League - effectively killing one level of soccer play and development within Scotland; something that neither team would support, nor would the country.

True, but if it is for the sake of the development of football at the national level, you do not neccesarily need to posess a good domestic league to be an excellent team at the international level. See Nigeria, South Korea, and well, the United States for examples.

I would compare this to UNC and Duke being in the Mountain West. Hypothetically, you'd take them two and put them in a much better conference in order to give the other teams a fair shot at winning.

But hey, if this increases both sides' chances of lifting a trophy every season, who am I to criticize?
