I know many "bright minds" are working on it. They will continue to WORK on it even after our demise.

I don't expect dissenters to agree with my stance. I have discussed this issue with doctors and representatives from pharmaceutical companies that I know (off the record). Therefore, I know it won't be "PC" to admit that I am correct.

It sounds like you're speaking with some mighty disillusioned people. I deal with healthcare people every day (some of the best doctors in the world, nurses, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, etc.) and have gotten the exact opposite impression.

Lifesaver, I think the main draw of the story is that, here's this woman who had such a public struggle as her husband slowly died, and now she herself is faced with a medical problem. She is a very public figure who showed quite a bit of strength through everything, and now it turns out she is diagnosed with cancer. The name recognition and the human interest aspect make it perfect fodder for entertainment and morning shows.

It's agreed that cancer has no boundaries as to who it effects. But I can appreciate AKA2D'91's frustration with the lack of funding when it does come to cancer research.

An interesting point was brought up on one of the newscasts. For every $1400 spend on lung cancer research there's $14000 spent on breast cancer research.

My frustration comes at the FDA who take their sweet time coming out with the approvals for the new medications. Viagra certainly hit the streets at lightining speed and continues making major cash for the pharmecutical companies. Yet there will be people who suffer from the illnesses that were mentioned are left in a holding pattern waiting. Too bad you can't bring back the dead.

I have often wondered that when a cure is found for some Illness crops up?

Is it maybe a reason to Keep The Population in tow?

Cure One Desease and another one comes up worse.

Seems as if China has had their Problems Lately. But, they do euathinasia of Young Females.

I think they had a son. Very sad - so much tragedy in one family.

Their son is 13. Poor kid. He had both his parents die so close together and they were so young.

That's what I was thinking; I can't imagine losing both of my parents that quickly, especially being that young.

That in itself is scary. I was trying to think of how you can get lung lung cancer if you don't smoke? That just goes to show anyone can get it.

I think being exposed to abestos (sp?) can increase your risk for having lung cancer.

You don't need to do something to cause cancer. It's not like if you eat well and exercise and never smoke, you'll be safe.

Mr. Munch was just telling me how non-smoking women are twice as likely to get lung cancer than women who actually smoke.
