Ivys are great, and when they start to look puny they perk right up and really quickly with some water.....I know tha sounds stupid, but I mean it happens really quick!!

I had bamboo at my desk, but the problem is that they're sort of finicky. If you have air blowing directly on them, it will kill them, and they like sunlight.
The only spot on my desk where they could get sunlight was directly under the a/c vent.
I had to take them home.

Another vote for cacti here. I used to have a miniature bamboo plant at home and it was nice and all but it smelled horribly.

I have both ivy and peace lillies in my library. The ivies just grow and grow - they seem to like the flourescent lights. I just water them when the look droopy. The peace lillies do really well, but they take a lot of water - and I tend to get busy and forget about them.
All four big plants have lasted about 4 years so far.

Co-sign. I am sure to feed mine at least one cup of coffee per week.
My violet is especially sentimental...long story, but suffice to say that if I kill this plant, my mother would turn into supermom and fly me to a distant planet and leave me there. I have no window, but it flourishes under the fluorescent lights. HOWEVER, the office changed to some kind of low-engery bulb and my plant started to die (I still wonder what that light is doing to me!!!).

I have actually seen "silk plant duster" in a spray bottle. You can dust your silk plants and make it look like you are spritzing them!!!!
Good grief.

I'm putting in another vote for cacti here. They are the only plants I haven't managed to kill yet. Even when I forget about watering them for, like, two months at a time.

Peace lilies get potbound really fast and if they're taking a lot of water, it's time to move up a pot size!

Yes, it's probably time to do that. This will make a good project for my library helper kids. They did it last time and loved taking the plants outside on the patio and playing in the dirt!
