It's weird, I've heard very different opinions on him. Half the people I've talked to who dealt with him have said that he was nice, friendly and easy to get along with. The other half have described him as really moody, difficult to like.

I got really sick of his whining when he was in Boston, and was happy when he left. It had gotten to the point where every day he was complaining to the press about something. I never met the guy though, so really I have no idea about his real personality.

This story just has me shaking my head.

Frankly, when I was growing up in the late 70s, early 1980s, there was a lot of heat towards and resentment towards women sportswriters and broadcasters. I fear that this story could touch off at least some mild controversy.

And now this happens. Even though there have been a ton of strides made, it still isn't cool for this to happen.

Hopefully it doesn't set things back - there are a whole bunch of fantastic women sportswriters out there (Jackie McMullen here in Boston being one example), and it would be a shame for one incident like this to change people's views.

Well, I sent my dad the article and he said he just read about it in the Detroit papers today. He said he's gonna try to get some scoop from Derek's dad. I'll let you know if I hear any good gossip! Though I doubt his dad will say much. I wouldn't want my dad talking to everyone about my marriage!

Plus apparently Derek is EXTREMELY upset about the pictures of him and the reporter on the beach. I don't think anyone's in much of a mood to talk.
