Also known as the Nation's Capitol (for obvious reasons)

I was waitin' for you to show up, WenD08. I didn't want to start a war over the "real" Queen City until my back-up was in place. Now, who want some? lol

You done started it now.

Your city is called the Queen City (of the West). It was founded in 1788.

Charlotte, NC was founded in the 1750s - making us the first Queen City. Now you don't want none!

But, what I found interesting about Cincinnati's history was that it was an important stop in the Underground Railroad.

PREACH!!!

Although their city is the QUEEN betwixt the 2 of police brutality cases.

Plus, Charlotte had its own gold rush BEFORE San Francisco. I learned that 2 years ago on my Black History tour of Charlotte. Charlotte also had its own declaration of independence before Thomas Jefferson sat and wrote his.

Y'all betta RECK ON EYES!!!

Soror, I went to this event and someone who was recounting Chicago's history said that the Windy City was a term used to describe all of the hot air blown by the politicians waaay back in the day. I'm thinking ok, this person has not felt "the hawk."

Because of the shear off of the lake, and its very accurate. In the winter, you can get your coat blown off and that hawk makes it feel a full 10-20 degrees colder.

Ok, just moved here so I'm not sure. Sorors Abaici and Steeltrap may have to help me.

Los Angeles - City of Angels

I don't think that it's historical. I think that that is actually the translation from Spanish. Not sure.

So, if so, Los Angeles has the distinction of being the only city in our poll so far that is actually the same as its nickname - albeit in another language I guess. Na na na na na. LOL

funny how you got specifics on Cincy, but Charlotte is the "1750s"...yeah right! lol. But I was raised not to fights females, so I'm sure WenD08 will handle this "neophyte uprising" ^^ when she gets back.

You're right on Cincy's Underground RR legacy....and I hear that Harriet Tubman may have owned a condo there at one point.

someone earlier had asked about the "Glass City?" I think that is Toledo.
