Didn't the French Canadians in Quebec want to suceed (sp?) from Canada and form their own country a few years ago?

Or was that not what we would consider multicurturalism?

Isn't it ironic when you think about those who want to return to the "good" old days, when they sometimes weren't so good to them and their people? That's as jacked up as my saying I want to go back to antebellum days.

Well there are those in Quebec that still want to seperate from Canada... in fact that is one of the main tenets of the party in power in the province - however the same party is decidely against multicultralism, and viciously defends what it sees as the "true" Francophone culture (ie. language laws and such).

Insularism, xenophobia, and thinly-veiled racism are not traits of multiculturalism; but rather the reaction of those fearful of it....
