I wish at least the police had gotten her insurance information for you so that you could get started on having your car fixed.

I'm not planning on being as forgiving with her insurance company as the CHP was with her. The CHP officer who called me to let me know he'd spoken with her did tell me which insurance company she has, but since he couldn't tell me any of her personal info or give me her policy number, it would do me no good to call her insurance company now with no idea whose policy to file the claim under. All of the information I'll need to file a claim (assuming she hasn't already called it in...."So I hit some guy's car and fled the scene... no idea who he is.... my bad") will be in the police report which won't be available for a couple of weeks.
On the other hand, I don't have to wait for the police report to get started on my car. Further details of how this works can be found in
this thread, but I've already made arrangements with my insurance company. My file will be reassigned to a specific adjuster tomorrow (rather than a team) since my car was towed, and my car will likely be inspected on Tuesday. I've already told my company which shop I want to use: it's recommended by my dealer, my insurance company, and the company I work for, and happens to be all of about a mile away from the tow yard currently holding my car. Since I'll be using my own collision coverage, I'll have to cough up my deductible and then wait for my insurance company to get reimbursed from her insurance company before I get the money back, but it beats the alternative of having my car lien-sold out from under me by the tow yard for having sat there too long.
