So Yeah..

We did have the event last night, and I don't know if FB really helped or not, especially since we also had flyers.

But what it helped do was put a faces to the organization. That is a good advertisement.

OTW, I do realize the risk of representing an organization while members have profiles on the FB. it may hurt the org in the long run. Or if you are a small organization, it might also help your effort as well.

If anyone else had experiences with FB, please do post.

I totally love the facebook, and it appears most of my campus does as well. I've suggested to my sorority to use it, and we've yet to do so, but I've watched other chapters use it and I've heard it's helped. I mean it nothing else, it's really cheap advertising, so it's worth the $10.

I may live in Hawaii, but I love the South. I really do. I fall in love with it everytime I have the opportunity to visit! Consider it a collective moderator effort, though.

Regarding FaceBook, I may have sounded like it's a really really bad thing, but in the end I'm just a big FaceBook addict just like many of you here!

But yay for being an alum and having more leniency!

facebook affiliations

It might be a pain, but Rho Chis, once selected, can definitely "clean" all mentions of clues to their affiliation off their profiles without deactivating their account.

Under 'My Privacy Preferences' you can filter:

• Who can see my Profile and Contact Info?
• Who can see my Personal Info?
• Who can see what Courses I am taking?
• Who can see who my Friends are?

You can also allow only those who you want to see:
* Where I last logged in from
* My last away message
* My Wall
* That I'm a groupie in groups which I know many of the members
* My Wirehog photo gallery

Within your group memberships, you can restrict it so that only other members can see that you belong to the group.

This works b/c there are some people where you can click on their profile and you see nothing, and if you are scrolling through a group's members and you are not a member of the group, the person is skipped althought they are still counted in the group's membership.
