I religiously vacuum everyday b/c of Max's asthma and eczema. With my old vacuum, I was picking up the dog hair, but it looked like there was no dirt coming up. So, I assumed the carpets were decently clean.
Now, I vacuumed with my Dyson and WHOA! I swear, I have never seen so much random dirt and stuff come up with a vacuum. I know I sound like a stealth marketer, but I really know that this thing is worth the $550 (after tax) that we paid.
The house even smells better now. My husband was skeptical until we vacuumed tonight.
Guys, I am truly amazed. I don't get this excited over household things usually. But, I think Max's asthma will improve since we're getting so much more out of the carpets. I actually feel ok about him crawling on the floor now.
Thanks, Mr. Dyson. You're my new hero.

Tippie, have you ever thought about removing your carpets altogether? I've had asthma since I was little, and it wasn't until I moved out of my parents' carpeted house to apartments and dorms with flooring that was wood, linoleum, and ceramic tile that my condition improved tremendously. Even when I go back, I can tell the difference almost immediately.

We have a Dyson (a pink one... it's the DC 14, I think, with breast cancer awareness pink coloring). I bought it September 2006. Target has great deals where you can get them on sale for $100 off PLUS you get a $100 giftcard. My husband and I actually fight over who gets to vacuum. Our dog (Australian Cattle Dog with long, white hair) sheds like crazy, and we vacuum twice a week to keep the house clean. It's amazing what it picks up. When we first got it, we vacuumed with our old vacuum and then with the Dyson, and we were grossed out by what our old vacuum left behind.

I agree, though I don't have asthma I love my tiled and bamboo floors-I can vacuum them and know that I got every piece of dirt and dust up.

I bought the Roomba Red at Target-- it was on sale for $150!!!
"I" vacuumed today-- the hallway, living room, and hardwood floors in the kitchen are all done. I wasn't even home--I pushed the "clean" button, left the house, went out to lunch, ran errands, came home and the floors were done!!!! You really can't beat that!

I know that they're sold at Best Buy, too.
RE: your bamboo floors--did you have those installed, or are they original to the house? It sounds really cool.

I had them installed (Lowe's 12 month no payments or interest )-they are just as durable as wood floors and are more environmentally friendly
I looked into cork floors as well but they stain too easily.
The reason I asked about BB&B is I always get a 20% off coupon every month.

Yeah, we are in the planning stages of getting hardwood floors. But, with installation and all, it was about 1/10th of the price to get a Dyson as to get new flooring. We could afford the Dyson. But, we have to save a while to get the new flooring.
Once I get my clientele fully established, I should be making enough money to get the floors within two years.

We have a Dyson (not sure which one but it's purple and it picks up animal hair) and it's the greatest thing ever! We have the berber carpet that our very hairy golden retreiver loves to roll around on and a cat that sheds a lot- you barely notice it now. The attachments are great for getting the pet hair off the bed/couch/chairs where the pets lay, too.
We took the vacuum to my apartment to use before steaming the carpets and it was incredible. I swear, my roommate hadn't vacuumed his room in about 2 years and it looks and feels so much cleaner now. It's definitely worth the pricetag.

If there is a Fry's Electronics in the area, try there too. That's where I saw the $150 Roomba... at regular price.
ETA:
Check Amazon as well. It's too darn cute to pass up. (I soooo need a new job...)

OMG I so want a Roomba now! I hate vacuuming so much and that sounds like it could easily solve that!

Yeah! We got a Dyson today! We were so embarrassed when we saw all the dirt and dog hair whizzing around in the clear tank. This from rooms that were just vacuumed with our other machine!
It was on sale at Target this week. I can't wait to attack the upstairs!

I have a Dyson Animal now and a roomba-between the both I think I get up every piece of hair and no dirt is left behind. I LOVE my dyson animal. BTW I polled vets from around the US and the Dyson Animal was highly recommended for pet hair-they were so right! The roomba is great for under the bed-or other areas I can't get to with the Animal.
ETA, my cats were having episodes of coughing and reverse sneezing and now that I have the Dyson this has ceased.
