I have a question.
Prior to this "policy", did they tolerate hazing?

Bravo to Sigma Chi for officially making a clear and firm stance.

Yes, I have known they were dissolved since the day after it happened. I thought you wanted to know if Brian's reward poster was on their site. It is not.

Hopefully, they scare some of their chapters straight with this. I don't see how this is such a huge departure from their past polices though. As far as I know, everyone in the NIC has no-hazing policies. I just have a bad gut reaction whenever I hear "zero-tolerance".
The chapter at the University of Oklahoma saw a pledge die during hazing last semester. Blake Hamontree (the son of a District Judge) died of alcohol poisoning at the Sigma Chi house. As a result, the OU campus is now dry, and Sigma Chi at OU no longer exists.

I didn't think so. So the message is just a reminder and not a new policy?

More along the lines of a revision and clarification of the existing policy. As such, some might consider it new, while others may not.

There is no gag order on the case in the ocurts. I double checked with my attorney last week. Mark Anderson just wanted to avoid talking to the press, so he lied. Call Professor Shaun P. Martin at (619) 260-2347 if you have any questions about the gag order.

Snooky,
This is the thread on the Sigma Chi hazing policy.
But your agenda is fairly obvious.
Stating your opinion is fine, but you shouldn't expect a lot of people to agree with all of your comments.
Whether there is a gag order or not, the members of the Sigma Chi chapter involved were probably told not to talk with anyone about the situation -- which is what any attorney would tell anyone involved in a legal matter like this one. The undergraduate members of the chapter particularly should talk to nobody but the authorities when asked. That would be our policy.
Many of us will watch as this case progresses and trust that those at fault will receive whatever punishment is just. But in the media and on the internet are not the places for those arguments and decisions to be made.
