What don't you realize? That neighborhood IS THE GHETTO!!! All I was saying is that preciousjeni seems to associate everything she does/comment on (as of late) with being black and taking other people's comments and twisting it to look like they're being racist or saying to me that its wrong to call that hood the ghetto when it is. Its no different than looking at a mobile home park and saying its full of trailer trash or saying people that wear wranglers are rednecks.

To you and others on this board who don't seem to understand where I'm coming from, please understand that I will comment on anything I see as wrong, including posts that appear to be explicitly racist or vaguely so. My concern is for all people, thus why I joined a multicultural sorority. I don't have a particular focus (not "black" issues, as you seem to believe).
Simply because many people label me "caucasian" does not mean that I cannot see through another lens.

I must seriously not enjoy my sanity.
I have 15 minutes to waste until I go home. I will humor you for that amount of time.
You said, "If you think that hood is just a regular neighborhood then it doesnt surprise me at all that half of greekchat thought you were black."
This statement outright asserts that..... You know what? I just re-read your sentence and if you don't see the problem, I surely can't explain it to you.

Its a gift to be able to see things the way other people do, especially those unfortunate people, but insinuating that me labeling that fight "ghetto brawls" is racist.....you're out of your f*cking mind.

Cash--
Honey, you need to stop... Because how would you feel if I posted up a website picture with two skanky hoes fighting up in a country-western bar with steel toed boots?
I mean the fact that you call one man's place a "ghetto", may be another man's $million dollar opportunity--spelled, gentrification... Usually done by illegal gerrymandering and illicit zoning in cities...
I.e.--why did the cop's car NOT stop? Irregardless that they might have seen--they would have had enough to have probable cause... And yeah, some po' folks would have had issue with cops... But either way, that's the day in the life of the ghetto...
And the fact that YOU ACTUALLY DO know that this location is the 'hood--seems interesting to me... Why would you care? Are you losing your blunt connection or something? Worried about not getting access to you meth or ectasy stash?
I mean really, the horrors that are seen in the video happens in all poverty strickened cities throughout America... Like, why don't we just ask PHAShriner1906 to come up into this piece and give his opinion... And we will see how quickly the board-mommies will shutdown this topic...
Better yet, that was a ho makin' her doe from Joe, so that she can give the dolla to her pimp, the Mackidocious, Cashmoney.

How do YOU know its the ghetto, and are you actually saying to preciousjeni that something is wrong with a white person not condoning what you said? That is so typical of someone like you. What were you able to see in those pics of the fight that made you think it was the ghetto that I didn't see? I really think that for some whites, at least from what I have been hearing for a while now, is that there is a concept that they have (they includes you) of a "black neighborhood" that will always be the ghetto to them. The community that my family lives in in absolutely gorgeous, $275,000 homes starting, beautiful parks, tennis courts, etc. 99% black and its huge. That isn't the image that too many white people have when it comes to black neighborhoods. That's a shame. There are all kinds of neighborhoods that are at and below the level of the one that was shown in those pics and they are not the ghetto. That neighborhood had homes, yards, pets and every damn thing, but I guess that isn't good enough for you, asa long as the residents are black, it will be the ghetto. Fine. Think that way. Aparently, you haven't seen a real ghetto buddy.
Once again, you are perfectly free to say what you will about whatever you want, but you damn well better be prepared when those of us who actually do know what we are talking about confront you about it.

For Phasad, a visual to illustrate your point. Check out this home in a city that is over 80% African American:
List price of $430,000. In Georgia, that's pretty darn high.
One of my chapter sisters (yes, I still have that bond though I'm not currently in the chapter!) lives in this city in a 5-6 bedroom home similarly priced as the one above. Her neighborhood, as far as I know, is 100% African American.

So why are people in this thread trying to define neighborhoods as 100% black, 100% white, 80% black, 99% black, etc?
I assume that this thread was started because people go about defining neighborhoods like this. If people continue to define neighborhoods (rich or poor, white or black) as people are in this thread (many have) we will continue to have people that have certain views on certain ares or "neighborhoods" if you will.
I don't usually tell people that I'm from so and so and it's this percentage this and this percentage that.
Lastly, I don't accept what cash said because I don't hae that mindset. But who's to say that white people don't live in the neighborhood in question either? You don't see any but that doesn't mean there aren't any...

My thoughts exactly. Ghettos arent all black people, they got whites and hispanics just as well. In south florida, the ghettos are made up of mostly hispanic people. I mean, they got hatians, jamaicans, cubans, venezeulans, columbians, puerto-ricans, brazilians, a few mexicans, bolivians and a couple coke heads from panama. Mix those in with some white boy crackheads and a couple of black people....thats a typical Miami ghetto.

AKA-
I wouldnt care at all if you posted two skanky hoes fighting at a redneck bar. It'd actually be pretty funny. In fact, if you do find a video, post the link so we can all see watch it. This thread was about some funny fight that happened in a low-income neighborhood (hows that for political correctness ) but somehow it got changed into a racist thing. Funny how that works.
As to why I know that this location is the hood.....
A good friend of mine came from the ghetto. He played football at UF, was linebacker and then went pro 3 years ago. During the offseason he comes to chill with me for about 3 weeks and see his family (they live in the same city as me). When we were in college we ended up being roomates his senior season at UF. Sometimes he would like to just sit in the living room and talk to me about all the shit he'd been through getting to where he was at that time and then to where he was going as far as the NFL. Stuff like how his dad made him sell drugs when he was 10 yrs old. How he knocked his dad out with one punch on his 16th birthday. How his dad tried to kill his mom and how his mom was a big coke head. How much his mom wasted her life away being a coke head and an alcoholic and still is to this today. How his sister failed 3 times in highschool and how he had to basically raise his sister because his mother was always drunk of coked out. He would talk about how his dad was in prison half his life and when he was out how he would beat his mother. His dad ran a cocaine operation out of their house. Then one day he asked me if I wanted to see where he used to live. I said yea and then we jumped in his escalade and took a ride. He showed me a place I didnt think human beings could possible live in and be safe. I mean dogs were chasing our ride and trying to bite the tires as we drove. There were prostitutes walking around. There were a couple of people walking around with no shoes, walking up to this store next to our red light we were stopped at. He drove me through his old neighboor where he grew up when he was 6-13 yrs old and I couldnt even imagine what it was like in his shoes growing up. When he turned 13 he was recruited to play football for the 2nd most expensive private school in Florida. The rest of his story is amazing as to what he's become now. I had no idea that people actually go through the shit his life was all about. Literally, it opened my eyes to a whole new outlook on life. So yea, I do know what the ghetto looks like and the people who live there. I know some people who live in it cant help it, but there's a lot of people who live there because they are sorry individuals. Its not just black people living in the ghetto. My friend, the one who this story is about, is white. When I asked why he wanted to show me this, he said that he wanted me to know that where you're from does not mean thats where you'll end up in life. And it kind of hit me pretty hard and it's kind of what drives me to succeed in life today. Its a combination of being driven by the thought of becoming nothing and the thought of not surpassing those before me. I saw in my friend the kind of motivation I think everyone in the world should have, along with the gift of perseverance. If more people had his atttiude there would be a lot more millionaires out there.
ETA: I took down the pics and articles about his life and career.

But Cash,
Honey, some of my own relatives choose to live like this, just like your "homeboy" had to. In fact my father has to work in an environment like this everyday, because he had no choice to set up his dental practice in his OWN neighborhood, 35 years ago--he would have been run out and his wanted to protect and feed his family...
So really, your story doesn't shock me. It's sad, but great, because your friend is right--it's not where you start that makes you what you are, it's where you want to end up in life that takes you where you want to go...
And when you are dealing with "sick" individuals--mentally unstable folks--i.e. notice the children hanging around this madness--then how does one get out of that mentality? Football was your friend's way--and fortunately it worked for him...
But, he's like 0.1% of those successful coming from an "F-ed" up environment that he couldn't control as a kid... The other 99.9% DO NOT make it... And that's real life, too... I dunno what to do about that.
But it really doesn't help the situation when folks, such as yourself, post these kinds of things of a "relatively affluent", college educated, board such as greekchat--we really cannot solve the issue here on GC--but maybe folks believe we can!!!
Either you're part of the problem or part of solution... You just have to decide which part you want to be...
Catch my drift?

That boy is going to have a rough few weeks...getting housed by a girl. She was a big girl though.
I think my first clue about it being a ghetto, was in the title ghettobrawls....but that's just me.
